Edit 2: I updated the post-compo version, which fixes many bugs (again) and adds new content; however, the game is much more difficult. Yet, you can hold H key while you are away from enemies to regenerate; alternatively, you can edit nativedata.txt to balance the game.
General edit: I edited this page with a new version of the game, partially allowing you to edit the game and fixing most of the bugs in the compo version. You can play it if you wish to play with some more content; but beware the potions; they can be really punishing or rewarding.
Note edit: The game can be played in full screen mode if you press F4!

#Information:
Everyone knows that caverns lead to the center of the world. The fact is, not everyone wants to go to the center of the world. Actually, only the most eccentric people in the human society want to see the center of the world. But the way to the center of the world is full of dangers, traps, monsters from other universes, altars, pillars of magic, and, most importantly, as every adventurer should meet at least one, cursed shops of cursed shopkeepers.
Play as the Gentleman Assassin, Modern Barbarian, Retired Commander or Redoubtable Dreamer in their quest to reach to the center of the world!
Find and equip over 1700 items!
Fight against many monsters and critters including murderous rats, bats, demons, vampires, and orcs (and the hideous A Bao A Qu!)!
Listen to a great soundtrack which has only one song!
Hear the sound effects generated using sfxr!
Die tens of times before you understand what's going on!
Witness the power of the procedural generation algorithm which generates caves that look like real caves!
A few little things though: One push on escape completely exits the game, I thought it'd go to the main menu or something. Also, full screen, please :) It's really tiny and I couldn't make out the magic pillar on the first play at all.
Gah! Somewhere around level 28 I gave a pile of money to the dark gods, and this happened: ___________________________________________ ERROR in action number 1 of Key Press Event for <Enter> Key
for object randomevent:
Error in code at line 6: if !global.weaponslot="The Reaper +15"
at position 13: Wrong type of arguments to unary operator.
I had to exit the game, it wouldn't continue.
Really nice job on the game. I had more to say, but now all I can think about is that bug. :-(
Any game where the first choice is GENTLEMAN ASSASSIN has got my vote.
Loved the game narration during gameplay. Music was a great touch. I died rather quickly, but it's a roguelike so that is expected I guess. :) I wish you had done some graphics for the enemies and items instead of text... but it's a roguelike, so that is expected I guess. :(
Pretty fun. I was happily going along and was trying to figure out how to rest or heal... and hitting 'R' totally reset my game.. arg! ;)
Well, definitely enjoyed the little touches and flavor text you put in this. I really liked the simple fade out that happens as you descend a level. Nice job creating this little rogue-like. Also, love your entry description text above... very funny.
PS: On your comments on my game you mention an 'I, DUNGEON' joke. Can you edit your comment on my game to provide explanation or link or something because I am not familiar with the reference and google has not provided me anything definitive. :)
not gonna lie, this is probably my favorite one so far :) this seems heavily inspired by ADOM, which is perfectly okay with me...considering it's one of my favorite games of all time.
It's fun poking around and finding gear and whatnot, but the combat seems a bit random for my tastes. When I won I didn't feel like I did anything especially right and when I lost it was doing the exact same things I'd been doing when I was winning. Also a rat threw a knife at me, and that was weird.
I love this. I have a huge soft spot for roguelikes, and this is a very interesting one, for all it's simplicity. I love the variety of 'flavor text' in the game, something rarely found in LD entries. I did note a few bugs, I'll definitely come back and try the post-compo version later to see how things have changed.
