Sep 6, 18:52 Finished working on the LD site so that uploading final entries will be easier, and so that people can upload their images and see them list in order of hours-in-the-competition.

Sep 6, 19:43 I figured out how to do my game. its a puzzle game, with a context. you have color matching inside a hexogonal area (of hexagons) for the honeycomb. this honey "processing" turns into 'money' type system that you use to do the activities of the hive. lay brood, feed the queen, make drones/workers, send them out.

The hive will be placed into a forrest type area, you dont get to choose the first one, but the next ones you do, so you can create several hives in your colony (maybe several colonies, not sure).

Then youll have to flip betweem them doing the puzzle game aspect to keep the hives running and flourishing and to expand :)

Sep 6, 21:39 Uploading first image, honeycomb_01.jpg, which is the layout for the honeycomb screen. Hexes are really a pain in the ass to center on a screen...

Sep 6, 22:05 Now have a screen I can really work with (honeycomb_02.jpg). Now I have to figure out a good way to make this work drawing them, since this is nothing like a grid...

Sep 6, 23:06 Title screen is now done (title.jpg), and i have colored a bee image which Im going to rotate around as the bee character.

Sep 7, 00:15 I put up a shot of the main menu with honeycomb basic layout, and some bees I made (honeycomb_03.jpg) about 30 minutes ago, just finished stripping out the game logic for BaseGolf, and I now have my framework for Honeycomb ready. No new shots yet.

Sep 7, 11:51 Woke, up, moving around. Look at all that downtime. Actually spent 2 hours almost reading wilwheaton.net last night, whats with that? :)

Sep 7, 18:17 Couple hours of breaking to do life stuff, then got back to work and finished up the hex math routines to convert from Screen to Hex and Hex to Screen. Uploaded honeycomb_04.jpg to show this. Next up is getting a map of data displaying and being interactive.

Sep 7, 22:46 Wow, I suck. I spent half the night chatting with Jamul instead of working. Just got back from dinner, starting again with renewed vigor. (Or am I?)

Sep 8, 01:30 I R slackor. But, I have finally got my hex map testing properly, and even uploaded a little "Honey Bee Paint" type picture (honeycomb_05.jpg) that I made while creating the Hex Map Mask for what tiles are playable in the game. Because I wanted my hex map to be sorta in the shape of a hex as well, a lot of the tiles in the "full tile grid" aren't usable, so I wanted a simple way of knowing which these were, so I painted them all and saved the mask full of 0s and 1s for the tiles to test against. That is working now, so I now have a nice play field.

Now the game can begin. I can start having bees fly around to the places I want, and depositing colors. Yay! But, in the morning after some sleep. So... slack...
