Kerblooey! Time log
Sep 7, 00:21 EDT Started entry. (Was reminded about contest.)
Sep 7, 00:36 EDT Decided on game: "Kerblooey!" (Yes, it's a KaBoom clone. Live with it.)
Sep 7, 00:48 EDT First screenshot. (Emacs. Game doesn't run at this point.)
Sep 7, 03:26 EDT Reminded of the need to keep a time log. Wrote previous entries.
Sep 7, 03:45 EDT It runs! (Well, sorta. No errors, but nothing happens yet.)
Sep 7, 04:01 EDT Bucket responds to commands, and a single (huge) bomb falls, slowly. No scoring yet.
Sep 7, 04:09 EDT Taking screenshot.
Sep 7, 04:25 EDT Got done taking a screenshot. (gimp didn't like pygame, for some reason, so I had to take the actual shot in winblows and move it over to my Linux box for cropping and conversion to PNG.)
Sep 7, 05:03 EDT Took a couple of screenshots (again, in Windows)... replaced the cigarette-smoking bowling ball with a decent bomb image. However, to keep the bad-programmer-art quotient sufficiently high, I drew an explosion that looks like a squashed orange bug.
Sep 7, 05:24 EDT Taking a nap.
Sep 7, 06:06 EDT Decided not to take a nap, after all. Beginning to implement the maniac on top of the as-yet nonexistant bridge.
Sep 7, 06:24 EDT Got the maniac working. Realized I'm pretty far off the mark as far as emulation of the original Kaboom! goes, but it's still not too damn bad.
Sep 7, 07:51 EDT Leaving for school, won't be back until after 1PM, I think.
Sep 7, 15:16 EDT Starting work on Kerblooey! again. Working either on background or score system.
Sep 7, 16:17 EDT Background's done, and the maniac has a (cartoonish) body.
Sep 7, 17:21 EDT More work on the background. Gonna take a nap.
Sep 8, 03:44 EDT Woke up. Back to work.
Sep 8, 04:45 EDT Scaled game down from 640x640 to 640x480. Adjusted background and maniac to match.
Sep 8, 12:54 EDT Well, lots of fiddling around ended up with... nothing more than last time.
That's it for now. Maybe I'll come back and fix this game right, but for now it's just getting to be too much. I'm gonna spend my time wisely; I'm off to play DDR.
