Living Sheep's Post-mortem
Well, this was a decent success as far as it goes, but I am largely disappointed in my effort. What I'm writing here is yer classic postmortem speech. I'll first quickly cover...
The good
Fairly cleanly-coded, coded quickly, pretty easy controls.
The bad
Complete lack of content, not enough time spent, sometimes ugly code, unimaginative menu/no intro, and more.
What really bothers me the most is the ridiculous lack of levels. However, there actually is an explanation.
How I spent my time
I found out the theme at noon CST on Saturday. Late start, yes. Then today, Sunday, there were thunderstorms for a while this afternoon. I lost ~3 hours there. Then I ended up kinda getting a new computer, and I had to hook that up and set up a network. That all took at least an hour. So I lost some time, and I wasn't able to add as much content to the game as I would have liked.
The Customization
I always like to use level editors to make my own levels, so of course I always aim to put them in every game I make. This one is no exception, but it is a pretty good editor. A nice, easy-to-use menu at the bottom, crisp dialogs (though I now remember I forgot to change the headings), and a pretty consistent interface.
I also like the lengths to which I was able to customize it. Custom tilesheets are supported, though unfortunately I neglected to mention that tiles have to be 16x16. It wouldn't be hard to change this, but I didn't have time to.
Something I really wanted to do was have custom items. I don't think it would have been very hard to implement, but again, I just didn't have the time.
Overall, as I've kinda stated, I'm content with my effort, but it could have been better.
