Fires & Fights is a web-based (HTML / CSS / JS) two-player game about escaping a confined space. Player One controls the blue square (WASD to move, Q to open windows, E to put out fires) while Player Two controls the pink square (IJKL to move, U to open windows, O to put out fires). Work together, or you'll burn alone.
Two players are required. Sorry if that's a hassle. This is my gift to those of you with significant others who were neglected over the last 48 hours, bring him/her in to play with you. In my own playtesting, I found that the close proximity required to play with two people on one keyboard results in greater than average amounts of snuggling. Enjoy.
See the tutorial on the site for more specifics about gameplay. I wrote and tested the game using Chrome for OS X, and have tested it in Firefox as well, but besides those browsers...there be dragons.
I've written up a post-mortem about how the game came to be and the inspirations behind it, which you can read here: http://samuelfine.com/firesandfights/dc.php. If you want to learn more, follow me on Twitter @54mf.
Thanks for playing.
