Evolution Revolution

You are the red organism, chase the pink ones and stay away from the green ones. Shoot with space and collect upgrades to stay ahead of the competition.

Controls and Gameplay:
WASD to move (sorry no arrow keys in this one)
SPACE to shoot in the direction you are facing

GREEN BAR is HEALTH
BLUE BAR is MANA (Which actually doesn't matter in this implementation because I didn't expand to special abilities as hoped)

GREEN BLIPS are ENEMIES and chase you
PINK BLIPS are ORGANISMS to try to eat
YOU are the RED one

COLLECT ORGANISMS to level up
As you level up you get faster, gain shooting speed, and a little more health. The enemies also get faster and gain more health, so watch out.

OTHER ITEMS are scattered about the playing field:
HEALTH POT heals you
MANA POT restores mana (does nothing in this one)
ARROWS are speed boost for a little
SHOOTING GUN is shooting speed boost for a little
SWORD is temporary damage upgrade

Strange. I followed it and it took me to my site with the game. Is it an entirely blank page or does it have a blank box in it?

I should have been more specific. It goes to your web page at ld24/page.html with links and such but there is no game.

Hmm. My best guess is that you don't have the latest Java installed? I've checked again and it brings me to my page with the game on it, so I don't really know how to troubleshoot it then... dang

There should be clearer instructions about playing this game. I know you use space to fire and move with WASD after finding out the arrow keys does not work.
By the way, what does the blue bar represent?

Hi jprogman. Sorry my instructions were fairly lacking. I realized after the submission crunch time that I had forgotten to post a rule set or anything, and wasn't sure if I could update the header after that, but apparently you can. So I put clearer instructions up and hopefully that should help :)

I liked it I was pretty sure I would be able to play forever, with a giant mass of green guys behind me, but then I started shooting for some reason! Shooting was fun, but it rendered me unable to pick up any more powerups (since I shot them before I could collect them) and I eventually died
