Very happy to have something to submit and really enjoyed the comp. Congrats to everybody involved. I'm looking forward to playing a load of games over the next few weeks.
Anyway, about the game...
I had a hunch Evolution would be the theme so had an idea in my head from the start. The end result is not too far from the initial vision although several shortcuts had to be taken to finish in time and I'm not entirely happy with a few elements of the game - the lack of any music being one.
I seem to have mainly been making action/arcade type games lately and wanted to try my hand at something a little more abstract. I'm also interested in finding out how I can direct the player towards the games objectives without actually telling them directly what to do. To this end the game contains no instructions other than the title "Evolve".
Finished it! I liked the idea and it was kinda funny and weird going from bird to human in an istant. Of course the gameplay is nothing great but I see where you were going for and I didn't have problems understanding what I had to do to advance the game
@adventureloop, it should be very clear that you've finished. I can't put why, because it would be a spoiler. I enjoyed the game, although more sound would have been nice.
there are several LD games here with the same concept, but so far, i liked yours the most. but one thing: you took some graphics out of other games, that's not cool and also not following the rules :/. come on, i'm sure you could do or could have done these few grass/cloud graphics yourself with paint. it would have had a better feel then
Nice game, I enjoyed the evolution element that you nailed. Couldn't get past the bird stage o___O. Skeptical about some of the graphics which are directly ripped from Mario but overall one of the better entries for me.

Also found a bug when u leave the water and jump high enough u can stand on the sun :<
Oh, and you can be sure you finished it, when you're done :)
