Mordor Must Resist!

Even this Ludum Dare is gone, the theme “You are the villain” It was very exciting and when I started to work on the idea I had in mind to implement many features, which are to be irremediably cut in the last hours of the compo XD. I was obviously inspired by the Lord of the Rings novel, even with the recent release of “The Hobbit” in the theaters, I tried to imagine the situation seen from the opposite point of view and I enjoyed testing and re-testing to kill the hobbits and Gandalf especially ! But let’s go to what went right and what went wrong:

What went well:

1 – IDE: In this my second participation I used Game Maker Studio Pro (instead of using Construct2), bought a few days before, I had already had some small experience with version 8.1 and with some tutorials, found the time to fix some bugs, I managed to complete the whole.

2 – Testing: With the help of some Italian guys in an irc chat, from the site IndieVault, they proposed features to which I had already thought, but then I have not had time to fully develop, and they gave me support testing the game and finding bugs.

3 – Tranquility: This time I worked when I was in my house in Turin, alone and in peace I have been able to think and arrange without wasting time, unlike the last time when I was in my parents’ house in Rome.

What went wrong:

1 – Graphic: This is always my Achilles heel, I’m not very good at drawing, I get to learn a little ‘pixel art’ as it should be, but time is always against me between work and fatigue.

2 – Mood: In the middle of the second day I become a bit lazy and I could not wait to finish, many of the sprites I drew in a hurry without much thought, glaring example is the knight, and I just wanted to give a little rest to my eyes ..

3 – Idiocy: It ‘was my mistake not prepare properly for the compo this time, the IDE was not completely set properly and many functions, such as export, I saw them the first time towards the end of the second day. . so you can imagine the panic in my eyes XD
