This is my submission for the Ludum Dare 27, August 2013. Theme: 10 Seconds
'Fireworks' is a fast-paced unique, innovative game in that you will try to prepare as many fireworks as possible in only 10 seconds!
The game uses true 8-bit sounds and music to support the different moods and create that nice retro-feeling.
Every year the same happens: You forget to setup the fireworks in your garden and have to do it in the last 10 seconds before New Year. However, your garden is full of obstacles, angry dogs and jealous neighbours, that try to steal your fireworks!
Customize your very own unique player and make him look like yourself!
Between every level you get the chance to equip yourself with new handy things, like sportshoes, a shotgun, or even buy professional fireworks.
I hope you enjoy this game as much as I did creating it! ;)

Okay, it's got nice graphics & a well-executed concept. Great work with character customization. I'd probably make the "type display" text in the shop screen faster/skippable & also allow the player to buy something right off the bat.
Nice job dude. I failed in year 2005 or something because there were no fireworks, although I already set up like 3? O'well, it was a nice game. God damn it how much I've missed games like this, where you have to buy stuff for points earned ingame. Too bad there were not so much I could buy, but nice game regardless.
Items are very expensive compared what u get paid for the fireworks. I played through 2013 and got the ending "boss" but died I was returned to the beginning which was a bummer.

Wow. One of the best games I've tested today (and in this LD(and as it's my first time participating, one of the best game at all)) Very fun, nice music, simple, addictive, great work man.
Fun game, and slightly addictive. One issue I had though, was when starting a round standing close to fireworks, you will start out with trying to place it, since you had to hit x to start the level. Apart from that, a very good game!
Personally, I'm not a fan of rapid tapping like this so I think holding the button to set the fireworks would be better. Otherwise, everything was great! Fun game.
This game has got amazing graphics and direction, but the core mechanic is revolved around tapping to set fireworks which is kind of weird, otherwise lots of fun.
Pretty fun game. Some of the items seemed pretty overpowered though, since after I got the dogfood and gift basket, I had no more enemies to worry about. Also, I was totally not prepared for that ending.
Wonderful! Very clever, responsive controls, unusual setting, great audio and advancement system. I think if anything the LD theme held you back, the 10 seconds stopped you from developing the mechanics as much as you wanted, but even then you still threw in stuff like the dogs. Great work!
I played till about 2005 or so, then stopped. Nice art and music. Was frustrating that the store didn't list the prices at once and you had to wait for the text to finish printing? Great effort for 48hrs though. A lot here to work on and polish.
Haha that was funny man! good job! 1 aspect I think that could be improved is unifying the color pallet, but I do like how the yellow signs contrast the darker value of the stage. good job :)
Nice little button smashing game. The key mapping could be a bit better. It feels awkward to use X, C, Space, Left, Right, Up, and Down, for such a few tasks. Otherwise it offered some nice variety gameplay-wise :)
I like it. I agree with the shop text speed being a bit slow. The dogs livened it up nicely. Seeing how far others got I think I'm not so great at this one.
Nice little game, kinda addictive because of the things you can buy, but you don't get enough money from completing levels, even if you always get all fireworks ready. Nice music too.
Nice game but the upgrades to me are actually downgrades as they make a fun game very boring, if there are no dogs to avoid or greedy neighbours to slap what's the challenge?
Nevrtheless it has indeed a cool concept and is still fun to play, athough I don't feel rewarded to recieve money from the fireworks as it's meaningless to use it since it will just make the game plain and dull.
I don't think I would have ever come up with the idea to make a game about placing fireworks. It is quite well done and the pixel art is good. It has the style and feel of an old gameboy game. I wanted more stuff to do, but overall I'd say nice job.
Love the visuals and the gameplay is really frantic - though I'll admit I got a shotgun as fast as I could, so suddenly no more dogs or humans. Great work for 48 hours!
Well done. It's a good concept, but I think it would have been a lot more fun if it wasn't so easy in the beginning and if items didn't cost so much. More fireworks please!

quite the challenge and pretty fun, and who doesn't love fireworks, even if you have to furiously mash the 'X' key, hehe

the ramping was a little tough for me but I hope you develop this further I'd buy it on a mobile platform.
