the miner and the king

"the miner and the king " is a game for ludum dare 29 theme "beneath the surface " , the games was made in the first day .

there was actually a whole story that describe the levels in a narrative way but it was removed due to the lack of time :(

controls :

W , A ,S ,D movements

G + direction ==> dig

H ==> add block (starts from level 6)

j ==> shoots stones (starts from level 10)

you can press r to reset if you got stuck

in level 11 and 12 you have to collect at least 10 diamonds to proceed

how do i get past the first level? i'm just seeing a horizontal plane - i can move to the right of the screen, but that just restarts it. i tried digging a bit, but didn't see anything.

sorry , it seems there was a bug in the game
i re uploaded it and it should work fine now

OK, so as far as I can tell, you can't dig through those protruding blocks in the 2nd/3rd levels, even though you can dig under them through soil of the same type? I'd suggest some different colouring there if it was intentional, or maybe it was just a bug?

The pacing of the game was a little too slow too. Not just the speed of the character, but the rate at which difficulty increased.

The mechanics were solid once I got used to them though! Digging felt pretty good, especially digging under all the enemies!

The learning slope is to steep. Level 0 is of no use and level 3 is already too difficult.
Solid idea, but would need some tuning to the gameplay.
