My first try at Ludum Dare and second game (currently doing coursera's XNA course).

Pong your way up to 10 points to win the game.

- Avoid balls from reaching your side.

- Collect power-ups to improve your "snake"

- Multiple balls can be in play at the same time

- Be careful with the Evil Ball

Controls:

- Player 1- WASD

- Player 2- arrow keys

Engine:

- XNA (C# in Visual Studio)

To run the game you shoud need the components recommended for XNA 4.0 listed on http://xboxforums.create.msdn.com/forums/t/1988.aspx (includes install links).

Those are:

1- .NET Framework 4 Client Profile or .NET Framework 4 Full, depending on whether or not your game uses features that are in Full but not Client.

2- XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 (and 4.0 Refresh) - the C++ redist and the relevant DirectX components are included in the XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 and do not need to be installed separately.

I couldn't run it. Do I need visual studio?

It ran fine for me. I didn't have anyone to play with, but for some reason, playing it versus myself was still entertaining, probably because it was so hard.

I just updated the description. Apparently it needs .Net Framework and XNA Framework Redistributable 4 to work... I'll see if I can swap to Unity on the next contest to avoid these problems and to be readily available on web.

@dreadilla, peecestudios: Does it work after following the instructions from microsoft website?

You could distribute xour game with mono/monogame runtime, this wouldn't require to install xna and .net.
But anyway, for the first game great achievement!

Gave it a go and it seemed there was a good base for a mechanic there but it was a bit hard to understand what was going on half the time.

Physics is a little weird, and not sure about how much of an 'unconventional weapon' I saw, but the game is still pretty fun to play.

Neat game. I like the extra additions to pong. Though i wish the hit boxes were a big bigger to match the art. Also i fail to see how this applies to the theme, so had to rate you low there. Otherwise good entry.
