MegaWave is a hero with a jaunty step and a microwave strapped to his chest. He hates potatoes. Or rather, he *loves* potatoes and is currently very hungry. Defeat King Potato with your microwave beams and chow down on his soft, fluffy innards. Honestly, he's tastier than he looks.
My first game jam. And my first game.
I had such grand plans. It turns out making games is hard.
So while I managed very little of my original scope (including fully animated enemies left on the cutting room floor), everything in this short boss encounter was created from scratch. Which means no sound, because I am totally tone deaf. Sorry!
I learnt a huge amount making this. You'll see me again next year.
I kind of like this game, especially the potato boss. He lashes out trying to preserve himself from being cooked, while at the same time being sad and resigned at his life of being a potato. That alone kept me playing for awhile.
The game play was good enough, and I think you captured the boss fight vibe well. Nice job.

That potato looks so sad, I almost felt bad trying to kill him. I do like the graphics of both the player and potato :D It could do with sound, and it did crash the first time I tried it. But a great first attempt at a game. I know what it is like to overscope massively, the first LD I tried I did, and the game I made was awful. But this LD being my second attempt I just keep getting better.
I've never felt sorry for a potato so for that, this game is awesome ;). Overall it's a pretty good game, I enjoyed the game play and the over all atmosphere. Good stuff!
A bit short but I like how getting hit just once causes you to lose and start again (in some sort of insane hard mode that actually fits this boss battle) plus I loved all these animations you've managed to put in.
