Stafe

STAfE (pronounced Staff) is actually a concept I came up with a while back for a different game jam.

The "STAfE" is just a device which converts movement into kinetic energy, which can be redirected at will by the user. To effectively use it, one must "save" momentum before firing. People would use the STAfE by jumping off of skyscrapers, using it just before landing to destroy cars or entire small buildings.

I'm glad this is my first LD. Hopefully I didn't break any rules.
I unfortunately didn't have much time due to work and whatnot, but I'm very proud of what I accomplished in my 8-10ish hours of development time. Most of it is just playing around with the STAfE mechanic in terms of movement.

In any case I hope you enjoy the mechanic for a few minutes :)

Premade assets:
Some audio taken from Freesound.org (zero attribution) and heavily modified in Audacity.
Others generated with Bfxr
UFPS from asset store for first person movement.
SENaturalBloom form asset store for bloom.
Unity 5 Free Standard Assets (various)

I elected not to include the UFPS and SENaturalBloom inside the public github since they're paid tools. Importing them from the asset store into the project will make all the errors go away.

If needed I will provide full source, if my using them doesn't make anyone angry in the first place.

Good luck everybody and thanks for checking out my thing.

The aesthetic is interesting. But i do not understand the game idea.

Very interesting concept, I found out how to perform jumps but for some reason (maybe i didn't understand how to do it properly) I could not charge my "wand" every time i wanted to perform jumps and getting back up with the stairs and getting back to the starting platform was surprisingly hard haha. Cool atmosphere and fascinating idea, it was a shame I didn't know how to dig deeper.

I had problems with the resolution. It didn't give me the normal Unity launcher so that I could select running options, so it ran at a weird resolution where most of the UI was cut off and so was the title screen.

Very well done. This is the 100th game I've rated, and the mood is unlike any I've seen so far. Very fun to zip around with the extra momentum, I would love to see someone speedrun this. Nice job!

This sure looks interesting! However I could not really figure out how to play :( I like the graphics and music!
