Hey! I'm James and this is my first ever Ludum Dare game. As you can probably tell through the screenshots, this game woefully inadequate and can barely be called a game. This is my first ever game and was created with Haxe and the game framework HaxeFlixel.
The idea behind it was that the Earth was invaded by aliens who could not be killed by any conventional weapons - so became rulers of the planet. A small resistance force found that their only weakness was to ink from fountain pens. The player would have run round various levels inking aliens and freeing slave laborers from cages.
This game lacks nearly everything - graphics, sound, levels and enemies so is not playable. But as this is my first game and first jam, I am pleased to have accomplished anything! Over the next few weeks I will continue to finish the game and return with a real version!
I think this game teaches all of us an important lesson: Never give up! Whether aliens invade the planet or a game doesn't get finished in time: There's always hope. I hope the post-compo version of this will be as epic as its story. ;)
I can only say this, welcome to the Ludum Dares! I assure you what matters is that you enjoyed yourself and that you gathered experience! I know your next game will be bigger and better!

HaxeFlixel is a lot of fun and great for these types of things. All the experience you gained from this attempt will serve you well going forward. Just make a list of things you know to do and not do next time and to get to this point next time will be quick! Then you will have the time to make it a little farther.
