My first submission to a Ludum dare compo! This game allows you to play as a slime in order to thrive and survive... Amongst the corpses of parachuters, and the horrible war machines that are tanks and planes.
Controls: Space to split, Arrow keys to move.
How to Play: As a small slime, avoid tanks and planes, and don't dare touch a bullet. Eat up the parachuters to grow further. You are more efficient at digesting humans. As a medium slime, you may be able to eat a tank or plane if you are large enough, avoid bullets and protect your slimelings from tanks and planes. As a large slime, you are a burden, and must split as you are in extreme danger from bullets, you can't move fast nor jump high. As a herd of small slimes and medium slimes, kill off any tanks and planes threatening your small slimes, and let your small slimes eat people. As a swarm of small slimes, split as fast as possible in order to consume as many humans whilst losing little to bullets, Safety in numbers! As a tiny swarm, group up in a corner in order to grow into a bigger slime.
Your enemies: The Parachuter- a tasty snack which will fall to the ground and proceed to run in a random direction. Completely harmless. Tank- Shoots once around every 10 seconds and crushes your small slimes. Plane- Shoots more than once around every 2 seconds and travels fast across the screen. Bullets- Get hit by one, and you lose half of your mass AND get split in half! Starvation- Eat constantly, as you lose 1% of your mass every second.
If you have a mass below 4, you are dead! That means you will be instantly killed by a bullet if you have a mass of 7 or below!
NOTE: the game requires Java 6 or above, if you don't have it already, get it at java.com.
The source is included, naturally. The game runs on Libgdx for java.
"Minecraft mobs meets agar.io" -IGN ^^^That's how I imagine IGN would rate it^^^ neat little game, however I thought you'd be able to swallow the tanks if your slime was big enough.
Fun game but I am not that good :) The jumps are a bit strange and sometimes I died definitively without being able to respawn. It seems that once you get hurt, you lose more than half of your weight and do not split.
Nice game! I loved growing super big but when I got to size 400 and stayed on the right side, sometimes I would just randomly shrink to nothing and I felt sad. Other then that, great game! :D

The jumping height seemed a bit random occasionally, with a giant jump every once in while, between a lot of low jumps.

Art style was nice.

Controls? Do you just move REALLY slow? And jumping was inconsistent.
Overall:
If gameplay were a little more fast paced, and the controls were improved, this could be pretty fun.
