There are 4 useful tools also scattered through the desert: A Compass to the Southwest, a Knife to the Northwest, a Bottle to the Northeast, and a Shovel to the Southeast.
You can DEHYDRATE if you're not careful. Either drink from the bottle...or, if you are very clever, and have all 4 tools, you can grow your own shrubs from which to harvest water. Be careful of the brown seeds, though.
And when you do finally find a star, be careful. As soon as you grab it, things get dangerous. Grab all 4 stars in one game to win!
TLDR - the desert is mostly empty. It is very easy to get lost. This game is NOT FUN. It is an experience of GETTING LOST.
ALSO SRSLY, IF YOU DIE WITH PINK SEEDS ON THE GROUND THE GAME MIGHT CRASH - TRYING TO FIX THIS BUG NOW.
