Biomass
As a sentient plant force, you must destroy the local villagers and consume their biomass to grow stronger!
This is a Tower Defence game - I've never made one before!
WASD / Cursors = move camera
Mouse = Select / Grow / Upgrade plants
F key = speed up time
HTML5 / Web build only for ease of play.
Someday I'm going to not run out of time... No music or sounds I'm afraid, and a lot of visual bugs :(
Like all my other entries, I made all the assets myself, so I'll be uploading them to OpenGameArt for others to use if they want when I get around to it.
Enjoy! :D

@steph88 (and any other youtubers who might be interested) - you have my permission to put this in your video, but I can't be arsed to sign up to yet another site, sorry!

I like tower defence but I'm afraid this seems broken and unbalanced couldn't get anywhere on it :/

johnbrynte30 Aug 2016, 21:18
Nice graphics! Would have felt less unbalanced if you could choose the placement of the plants more freely, and if the humans were a bit more aggressive.

Pretty game. One of my plants would always fire at the out-of-range target before swiveling around to the closer target. Harumph!
tomisoka31 Aug 2016, 06:07
Nice game!
However plants sometimes choose target which is almost on the other side of map and then they don't switch to another closer target.

Yeah, there's a number of (mostly graphical) bugs I'm aware of which has towers sometimes shooting when they're not in code, and shooting at targets that don't exit.
Also menu prices are sometimes for the wrong tower, which looks like nobody has found yet.
That's what first try code on a time limit ends up like - I think I'd have to refactor a bunch of stuff entirely to fix, but I had fun making this one, so I might do a bugfix 'sequel'

I would of liked some kind of win condition to be there. After a rocky start I beefed up one plant that basically took care of everything for 10 minutes. I think it is a very solid tower defense game.

@Aaranos - thanks!

Good effort. Could use more polish like music/sound effects and lots of bug fixing. :)

Sorry, but the theme is: "Ancient Technology", and I don't see it in your game?

MrNyarlathotep6 Sep 2016, 00:40
@Alsatian Studio - Agricultural breeding of plants to have specific traits and placement of plants to provide things like defence against pests is one of the oldest technologies known to man.
I just had the planets self evolving to kill 'pests' that are ancient humans

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.
