A Fortress Of Ash

This is a fun game to play once you figure out what object does what. Sounds would have been nice, but nice job on your first Compo!

My favorite thing here is the art and the hectic gameplay for a game that's supposed to span a long period of time. So far I havn't won, and im not sure what the gun does, (maybe thats why im not winning?). Anyway good entry!

Furthest I got was day 26. That sanity meter is insane. Once it gets low it's almost impossible to bring it back up. Very difficult game indeed. Better instructions would've saved me the trouble of losing a couple of times before I could figure out how everything worked. Overall though, it was a solid game and I had a pretty good time.

There was one thing I didn't like though, that absolutely killed the game for me: those damn rats ;P Apparently, those stupid rats don't need to breathe oxygen or worry about fire, but have no trouble stealing my food.

Congrats on your first time! A Fortress of Ash is pleasantly complete and functional for a first time entry. You did a great job of really creating a feeling of panic and pressure. Invoking feelings similar to a hopeless ship fire in FTL. That said, I found it a little bit too punishing to enjoy for long. A more controlled difficulty curve could really help out here.

Great effort. Interesting gameplay, though I had to play a few times to remember where everything was, but it fits the theme perfectly.

The gameplay is well done, some infos to help the player for the first time would be better (like on the items) and the difficulty curve need some adjustments.

I enjoyed this take on a time management game. I felt that not knowing what each object did added to the experience. I was caught by surprise because I thought it was going to be a game with a slow pace. You kind of have to rush around losing sanity like the character.

The mood could be greatly enhanced by some ambient music. It's a little sterile without sound.

Nice game, I liked the concept but I was not able to survive :( . For me, insanity is a bit to hard to keep. You need to be always reading because it is so slow to increase. And sometimes, it does not increase at all (I think it is when you do not sleep enough). I was also stuck once at the oxygen panel while holding a fire extinguisher. Msic would be nice also. Question: is there a way to kill rats? Sometimes I lost because I was low food but my hunger bar was fine which is strange.

I like this one! It's hard to realize what you need to do at first. But when you know you can play!)

Great idea and nice atmoshpere! I think the lack of sound made it really difficult to understand what whas going on at times. Great first entry!

It's a tough game, but pretty interesting. Lack of sound prevents the mood from being that immersive, though.

While a bit confusing at the start it was fun to play. Oxygen depletes really fast when it is broken though, giving you almost no time to fix it.
