Ludum Dare #37compo
hoplitelite
Hoplitelite!
=== What is this? ===
Inspired loosely by a previous LD entry (and now excellent Android/iOS app) 'hoplite', but mostly just roguelikes and chess.
It hasn't been a good day for player-knight, who's been trapped in a room with monsters.
=== Instructions ===
Each monster has a special attack pattern, you must try and close the distance while avoiding their attacks and kill them one by one.
- Hover over an enemy to see where you should avoid
- You can move to any of the blue coloured tiles
- Enemies you can attack will be in red coloured tiles
- Attacking an enemy moves you into its tile
Good luck player-knight!
=== Custom map maker! ===
Not enough levels? Try the custom map maker, challenge yourself and your friends!
Here's an example custom level to get you started (copy and paste):

I had a hard time figuring out how the enemies worked. Would be nice with a little "helper" that described how the enemies behaved. Or maybe it's just me being too stupid to figure it out on my own x)
Here is an idea, maybe you could change the player's patterns for different levels. :D
The level editor puts this over the top
I just think there is too much "running after enemies until they hit a wall".
I love the map maker, the simple but efficient gameplay and the retro graphics.
Good work!
I really enjoyed this.
Took me a couple tries, but I beat level 8.
I hope you keep working on this, there's a lot of potential here!
Great job! ^-^
The sound effects are a tad too squeaky for me, and the art is good. I don't really see the theme in here, but I can get behind your justification a bit, seeing as you never really move out of the view of the screen. Nice level comments btw. :P
