If clicking kills the monsters, of what use are the keyboard move controls ? And what is the use of the warrior itself on the screen ? I guess once we get the superpower it is useful to move around ? But I didn't manage to get there, it is too hard to defend the tree against monster attacking in all directions in the same time ! Maybe a bigger arena would make it easier to manage the monsters.
Anyway I think clicking would remain easier than moving.
Bug :
When I lost a game and click around I still get points that increase the high score.
Sorry for the harsh feedback, just trying to help ! Congratulations for creating a whole playable game
Simple idea, but it is a little bit hard in my opinion... The tree dies already very early especially when the monster comes from the upward direction.
Graphics are decent for a Jam entry, a background music would have been nice too ~~but I can totally understand that that is a little difficult in 48 hours when you're all alone~~
Edit: I just realized it was the three day jam.... then you could have definitely spared an hour to look for a somewhat matching music
In the future, always leave time for gameplay testing.
This is something I'm still working on. This testing would help you know if your game is too easy, too hard, stale, complicated, or anything of the sort. Keep up the good work, I look forward to next year's entry!
I like the idea of multitasking and playing with mouse and keyboard seperately. I also like the pixel art and the design of the characters.
You however could do better movement. I don't like that you cannot walk in diagonals, if it's by design. If it's not, there are many guides how to make basic topdown movement in Unity.
Anyway, good work on joining Ludum Dare and making something playable!
My hand hurts after that much clicking. The warrior is a bit useless and it's not good that I can't move left and up at the same time. My Highscore was 61.
You could probably make the game a little more interesting if you made everything smaller (so you have more room to move around) and make it so the character needs to be in a certain distance to kill an enemy.
That being said, congrats for making a game! I wish there had been some music too.
Anyway I think clicking would remain easier than moving.
