Wow, so simple, but so cool. The mood, sound and graphics are great. It is quite difficult, but it is good for the mood, i feel real fear :D. Good job!
Amazing how you managed to create such an immersive mood with your art and the sound. Especially the clicking of the flash light, cool how much you got out of that sound. Definitely gonna check out other games from you guys!
Simple but effective. Took me a couple of times to understand how the recharge worked (thought I had to hold it down), but otherwise everything was pretty solid. Really enjoyed the art and mood. My one major criticism is that once you understand how to play and go a couple of rounds, there isn't anything else to keep you playing. Of course, that is true of most games made in 48 or 72 hours :) Nice work!
Very nice mood, sounds are appropriate, and of course, good job with the art assets. It's simple and it's complete, great LD entry. Congratulations!
For improvements, you might want to experiment with adding more game mechanics to the mix, maybe some sort of progress. Just something to consider in the future =)
Great little game, I really enjoyed it! The mood is really well set up, too. I got scored 443 on second try, but it seems like after a while the difficulty stays the same. You can make it harder :)
The visuals and audio work together very well to create a great, creepy atmosphere, well done! I especially love the art style, it's perfect for the game. The gameplay is very simple but I enjoyed it. To me the controls felt a bit unresponsive sometimes but that could also have been by browser struggling.
Great LD game, short and replayable, I love the colour palette and the atmosphere. It took me some time to realise that I could reload with R... I guess I should have read the description :D Good game!
Great simple idea that was very well executed. The premise is simple and it stays true to it. The Tim Burton style drawings really set the tone for the game. Well done! :D
A gauge would be better for the light, because you create something appear like charge like (one input one charge in less) but it decrease with time.. So it's hard to know when i have to release the input
Really liked the aesthetic of the game, great art and atmosphere. The sound design was done tastefully as well ;) The gameplay was simple but I enjoyed playing it. Good job!
Limited gameplay, but the simplicity is fantastic! When I was approaching 100 points and tried to reload I was feeling genuine anxiety! Love the art style, character is very nice but the background is a little too scribbly, but I guess that makes it creepier... Lovely audio, it had the desired effect...
Graphics : Really nice fitting drawings ๐ i especially like the light effects when i turn around
Sounds : Quite well done, sets a good mood for the game ๐
Mood : The combination of the sounds + the light settings + make for a really great experience here
Gameplay/Fun : I like the concept, it gets quite tricky after some time, but as others have said a bit more variation in of mechanics would have been nice and greatly enchanced the experience
Overall : You can be really proud of yourself, you achieved quite a lot in the given timeframe ๐
This game has a great mood and very stylish graphics. Mechanically, the game is simple but satisfying. I could definitely see this being developed further.
God job, simple and... Frustrating, this is the first LD game that made me slam my table. I love/hate these types of games, I know I can get a higher score! One more try, you get the drift :) I do have two negtive-ish thoughts though, the ambiant sound gave the game a spooky but calm feel, but the gameplay quickly becomes stressful and messy but the sound remained calm. Also the ghost coming from the top were harder so see since the player sprite was blocking them. idk maybe this was intended.. Top ghost too hard. Good work :)
The gameplay is extremely simple and there's not much to do here, but I don't think it needs that. I got to 103 on my second attempt and think I'll come back later to try and get a higher one.
The sound design is okay I guess. I mean - it's just a clicking sound and background noise.
Really loved the atmosphere created in this game. I felt the mechanics were too simple, and in essence it's a plain old shooter, but the art style really comes through and gets your nerves going. Really had fun trying to beat high scores, though I probably didn't do all that great.
The mood is beautifully crafted. The night sounds and the clicking of the flashlight add to the spookiness of the game! I love the main character and how simply you can see his fear. Wonderful work! It has that Tim Burton feel, I love the simple fear you create as he runs out of power and the fight to regain power and avoid the spirits as well.
I know you're already well aware from the other comments, but this is definitely my favorite atmosphere of the jam so far!! Such simple sketching but to perfect effect! 5/5
I like the idea of using battery charge as ammo that you 'reload', nice way to combine the theme with well-established game concepts. Highscore was 67!
Beautiful, simple, and fun. Worked perfectly. Genuinely scared when I ran out of batteries while surrounded by ghosts, managed to recharge only just in time!
Awesome atmosphere and sounds. I felt like the controls (especially on the diagonals) were a little finicky, but that is my only gripe about this game. I got to the mid-forties!! Complete. Simple. Elegant and high replay-ability. Excellent job on this one :)
This game is pretty good. I liked the game's innovation in where the theme is strongly related to the central mechanic of the game, but does not overcomplicate gameplay. I also like the mood portrayed by the game as the sounds and graphics provide a scary atmosphere towards the game. Though the graphics were an essential component towards the atmosphere, I didn't like that some graphics were just scribbles, especially the ground. In conclusion, this game used the theme in an unusual way and provides a scary atmosphere, but the graphics could use some improvement.
95 points highscore. I loved the art, sound and mood! The recharge mechanic seems a little too simple and doesn't really add anything to the gameplay IMO, other than pressing R every 5 seconds. Perhaps there could be some delay to the recharge so players need to decide when's the best time to recharge.
Wonderful little game! Art style is beautiful, the shaking head on his shoulders gives so much atmosphere, color choice is also great - that's what I call a dark place! The minimal sounds are on spot and increase the creepy atmosphere! Well done! Full points from me!
Pretty cool game, not much to add in terms of feedback except more polish! The graphics are still pretty rough and perhaps you could add a slight knockback or slowdown if you shine at a ghost. The spawning rate could be a little more thought out, I felt it was too random at times. Adding different enemy types could also make it more interesting.
Wow the art style and the sound design really set the mood for this game. Very Tim Burton-y, which is quite an accomplishment! The gameplay is simple but works!
Love the game concept, it's a simple idea but well executed. I think it gets pretty repetitive after a few runs, but that doesn't stop the first few runs from being great. The game was also simple enough to understand on my first run without reading instructions (something that can be hard to do for some games). Keep improving and hope to see you next Ludum Dare!
I like this a lot, graphics, idea and mechanics :) Thanks for making it! Took me a second to figure out you can press two arrows at once to fight the ghosts coming from the corners! Cool!!! Maybe do more levels, so player doesn't get bored :)
Haha this game was pretty fun, it actually got pretty intense after about 40-ish points. I like the characters but I don't think the background is too good. Good work
Beautiful. I'm surprised that art style isn't more of a trend.
For my taste the game play could have stood one more small level of complexity. For example, the player needing to navigate down a path with WASD to a destination while shining the light with arrows and recharging with R.
I hope you all keep making pretty games like this for future jams.
Great mood and atmosphere built upon an astonishing sfx and gfx base, but the gameplay is too simple and mobilish. Some character movement, map and goals would've added some depth.
Your game is great! Checked it, played a few rounds. My best score is around 80.
What I can say? It's not a hard challenge, pretty simple gameplay idea, remembered me "Nintendo EG-26 Egg" :) But you fully completed this game, guys! It's great that you took a challenge you can reach.
Mood and Graphics really good for this game. Audio carefully picked to keep the atmosphere.
Pretty nice simple gameplay. The audio really complemented the gameplay and I liked the look of the little guy with his flashlight. Wish there had been more progression and some more variety/strategy to the enemy designs. But, this was a great final product and you should be proud!
I wish there was more to it than pointing the flashlight at ghosts. Maybe moving from room to room and trying to retrieve some objects. Having some different ghosts would be cool too. What you have here though is really great for a 72 hour game. The graphics and the sound effects compliment each other nicely and are both very well done.
Mood in this game is just epic, graphics and sounds are very climatic. Gameplay is simple and fun, but gets really repetitive very fast. As someone in the comments said, this game would be awesome, if player could walk to other locations (forest would epic). Maybe adding limit of batteries and picking them up would make it better. Fun idea, but game needs to be more complex.
It looks nice. I would have preferred more enemies. I like the hand drawn art but the animations need more frames. I feel like there is something missing from the game. Its far too simple to be much fun for very long. It does look nice tho. If the player could move and there was a level designed It would have spoke to me far more. You have great mood, audio, and graphics. This game could have used more time spent in the fun and innovation departments. A flash light making a ghost go away is kinda predictable. recharging it with you bare hands doesn't make sense. Searching for batteries would have been a much better mechanic. Really good art but I was left wanting quite a bit more. Very complete game for what it is kudos for that!! No glitches, no unexpected issues.
Amazing art style, really reminded me of don't starve. And the gameplay is nice, planing when to charge and when to point the light. It can get very intense. But oh the sound effects that's where you really got it right. the ambient music, the flashlight flickering oh boy I loved it.
The art-style of this game. And the very bare sounds. That's 100% what makes it. I had fun playing. And it would be really cool to see what you would do if you worked with this style for a slightly larger game and not only standing put. The standing put could be part of being scare, and needing to feel powerful again before gaining courage to walk. As an example. Great execution though. Well done.
The mood was great. Although this is my favorite type of game-mechanics, I still enjoyed. The art was creepy and the main character was well drawn. The sounds were the most effective part of the mood and my favorite aspect of the game.
Fun game! It was a bit difficult to prepare for enemies coming from the top. I bet I won't be the first or last to praise the art but it was good! Nice entry!
When I pointed the flashlight at the wraiths, I felt eerie tension. If you continue to develop this, I would keep playing if I felt I could pace a strategy for recharging to survive longer. I appreciate the randomness of the wraith timing yet at times I didn't know how I could recharge in time. Could just be my lack of skill. My highest score was 34.
This is a very simple but also very solid game. The art style is charming and unique, and the controls are pretty clear. Very good indeed.
One point I'll make: it'd be interesting if the fleshlight took more time to charge when it's at a lower charge. If you did that, I'm sorry but I really didn't notice. It's nothing major, though, the game is still very well made. Congrats!
Great game! It looks great with the handdrawn art style and has amazing aesthetic. The gameplay was a bit simple though. With more expansion on the gameplay could be an amazing game with great potential!
Cool and Solid entry! The audio and graphics really bring me in the mood! If the player are able to move and maybe there is a exit somewhere, the whole game will be much more fun and excited!
This game just goes to show that a super simple mechanic can be incredibly addictive and fun, and the atmosphere of the game is really enhanced by the great graphics and audio. Brilliant work!
Good job. The mechanics are very simplistic and fun. Graphics are super good but you seem to work specifically on jut character. I would be nice to see the enviroment.
Great art and atmosphere. Simple but effective game mechanics, but I did get bored quite fast and would have preferred some more features or maybe some variety in the enemies. There is of course a limit to how much one can do in a weekend though! Good job!
Excellent job! I have never seen such an impressive mood created in a ludum dare game! You can be proud. The graphics and the audio were incredible! Maybe gameplay itself could use some variation but other than that awesome.
The core gameplay is addictive enough to play few times. It would be great to walk through. :) The art is simple but it works. Thanks for the game! Any chance of post-jam version?

Congrats on the game !
Simple, but elegant!
Love the art style!

Love the art style!
Not much gameplay but fun enough for a single run.
Reload is pretty fast but I guess the ramp-up of baddies works oke enough.
The sound really enhances the atmosphere.
The little SFX when you die almost scared me a little, haha really nice.
The sound really does it for this piece.
I love how the art is defined enough to make up your own story.
in any way i feel for the character
really nice, i love the art.
Really, really love your art though. It is gorgeous and high quality, and adds to the dark feel of the game.
It's simple and it's complete, great LD entry. Congratulations!

You guys really created a perfect mood, a perfect simple horror game!
The main character art reminds me of Tim Burton, maybe it is what you wanted but it's a great fit for the mood you created.
Very well played!

Visuals and audio both just perfect, I hope I'll see more of your work soon!
P.S. Highest score was 51.
Great work!
Amazing!
So many good things about this game; the art, the audio and the simple yet addictive gameplay.
Really great. The sound is so simple but results in such a great atmosphere. Graphics are great as well!
