UNFINISHED!
This was our (husband&wife duo) first attempt not only at Ludum Dare, but actually making a game together at all! He is the artist and I am the programmer, and we just wanted to give this gamejam thing a shot. Unfortunately, ambition and grand ideas got the best of us, but rather than upload nothing we decided to offer up our half-baked creation to the world.
The concept of SS Veternum is this:
A 2-player co-op game, where one person plays the engineer trying to fix the ship, and the other player is the on-board AI interpreting all the error codes, giving instructions on what to fix and where, and generally trying to be helpful. The game is actually two entirely separate executables - both included in the zip - which work together, having generated a common scenario (or so the plan went... time didn't allow for full implementation of it, so while the AI's console application will show the guts of the scenario generation, it unfortunately isn't properly mirrored by what's happening under the hood in the Unity executable)!.
We were inspired by the movie Passengers for the overall narrative concept and setting, and games like Keeping Talking and Artemis for the asymmetrical co-op playstyle.
Although the game is very unfinished, both pieces are still fun to poke at individually, and we hope you enjoy doing just that.
Controls for Unity:
Arrow keys to move (while retaining sassy idgaf pose)
Space to move through doors and interact with terminals
Can type into terminals. Entering 'diag' will open diagnostic screen, but that doesn't do much in this build.
