This was to be my first game entry for Ludum Dare 39. Using Unity, I was able to come up with two concepts involving a player using a screen.

The Idea

The idea of one of the concepts was a battle arena-esque game where players can look into their device to "hack" into the system and activate traps within the arena to defeat your opponent. However, the more you hack, the more you drain your battery and it's a mad dash to a charging station to charge your device and keep playing.

The Problems

As much as I was excited to toy around with this concept, unfortunately, I ran into so many problems using Unity. Instead of focusing on art and getting a playing field ready, I spent too much time on programming and bug-fixing and that wasn't enough to get a workable prototype ready in Day 1.

What I've Learned

What I've learned from this LD entry is I still need more knowledge in Unity and maybe this was too much of an ambitious project for me to tackle. However, I am not gonna let this LD experience deter me from continuing to work on my game concepts. Even though I still need some knowledge on Unity, I am glad that I did learn a few tricks such as using a Camera as a texture on an object.
