After my Partner left just before the beginning of Ludum Dare 40, I was left alone to submit something. So I present to you, Confusing Blade Hunter. You move left and right with A and D, jump with W and when your counter (top left) finished ticking up, you'll be able to place a new checkpoint with S. Each checkpoint placed increases the health and decreases the spawntime of enemies, which you can hit by pressing SPACE included in the Game are 4 levels in total, so hopefully you have fun beating them.
Seeing as I was supposed to be the dude painting all the stuff and not the programmer, it turned out surprisingly well. Listen to your favorite soundtrack while playing, since I did not include music myself.

I do not own a mac, nor do I currently have a Linux somewhere, so I couldn't test if these are working as intended, apologies if they don't.
I definitely like the dynamic of this game. Too bad that it doesn't have any sounds - even a simple collision sound for a sword hit or being attacked by enemy would help a lot.
Yep, the game is definitely hard as bricks as your pretty much are confronted with what feels like pixelperfect jumps from the very getgo. The ability to place checkpoints is a real saving grace though, because jumping over the spikes can get frustrating pretty quickly - > also some bees seem to have a little too much health. I was at a point when I wanted to try a hard jump and had to constantly spend time on hammering the space-key to get rid of incoming bees. However despite the lack of audio the game feels pretty polished and somehow the visuals seem to be inline with this being a difficult plattformer.
I Wanna Be The Guy-den! No sound? Needs sound! Solid premise, though I don't think it sticks to the theme to well? Some crunchy sound effects and this is my saturday evening sorted!
Great game! Really fun platforming, clever mechanic once you realise what it is. Unfortunately I had to close the game because is was lagging so much due to so many enemies being spawned, but it was still very fun :)
Fun! Super hard but the main mechanic lets you trade the difficulty between enemies and the platforming. Graphics are really sweet. Some sound would really add a lot to the game -- just a sword clang, getting hit, and a jump sound would go a long way. Had some good fun with this one.
Doing a check to see if the spawner is within the view would help to lower the spawning (aufgerufen lol) also maybe do a check to see how many are in the room before spawning more. I love the graphics and the outlines! bfxr is good for soundfx and sunvox is a pretty great tracker for making music ;b Great job!
Excellent graphics! I am impressed at the quality of the game's atmosphere. As others have said, the controls are a bit harsh, but you definitely worked well with the theme and produced an admirable final product.
For whatever reason it's super easy to accidentally hit spikes. Maybe the high gravity or something. Because of this the first two levels are way way way harder than the last two, very off-putting to me. I really like the createy-checkpoint mechanic.
