Out of money for burgers again, our roguish hero Larry Kroft attempts to repeat his sisters success and loot one of those temples for himself. These relics weigh a lot more than his sister made them seem...
Created in 72 hours for Ludum Dare #40! (Music used: Weightless by Ross Bugden.)
Good job you did well and was well related with the theme. The only thing I have to say is that attacking should have been according to the direction you were facing or the character should turn based on mouse position. Nonetheless congrats for the game!
Main menu transitions are great. A great unique character with quirky animations (such as the sweat pouring off of him). Good integration of the theme (linking ammunition to score and speed). Some of the sound effects grate on the ear a bit (the saw for example). I'm also not a huge fan of insta death mechanics (such as touching the saw). It could also do with some sort of checkpoint system.
Great game! Love the treasure concept, that you have to use it as weights and weapons, really unique.
Implementing a kind of checkpoint system would we awesome, and maybe changing the shoot direction or at least animation, so it doesn't clip through Larry, might even be a fun one, tossing it behind him while sweatily running away.
This has to be in the top 5 of humor lol, great game, the game is not only hilarious it is pretty well done, with good graphics, a awesome music and sounds e the best is the concept really good, great work, this game is really good !
Oh Larry, living in your sisters shadow for all these years. Well you definitely get points for humor! Oddly enough I think the menu section was really well polished compared to the gameplay itself. It became frustrating trying to drop items on the button pads and have them stay. I think simply making them not slide across the floor or adding another button to just 'drop' an item would have made huge improvements.
Hehe now here's a character I can identify myself with! Need to find the lost booze and save the day! Really great game, I had to restart a couple of times, and I just wanted to go further into the tomb and finding deadlier traps the further I came! The graphics is great, and the controls are super solid, which is really important in a game like this! Great job on this one!
OMG he need medical attention, sweating like that! Nice level building and fun to play. His sisters needs not to be ashamed of his brother in that area. The sweating and the boozing...well, that's something different. I had some problems getting the hand of dropping stuff in correct places, took a bit of trial-and-error but didn't take away from the fun game play. The music and sounds really fits well with the theme also. Did the sweating make him slower also? I don't think so, it was only a graphical thing..? Bravo, well done!
Lol, Larry Kroft! I really enjoyed the game. Levels are nicely designed, with optional areas that make exploring fun. Despite my willingness to complete the whole level (are there more after "Level 0"?), I had to surrender at the spike+arrows traps + moving platform section. There's something wrong in the way Larry moves and jumps while on the platform. Maybe that was not too hard per-se, but restarting from the beginning is not fun :( Having a couple of checkpoints in between would have been an easy and appreciated addition!!!
3D art is wonderful, much above the average for a LD entry! Especially the walls of the temple itself, very great execution. Maybe mummies are hard to quickly spot in some area, but just making them whiter instead of brownish will solve this.
Fun platformer & puzzler! Pulled off some good stuff in not alot of time. :) Good use of lighting! I insta-died twice on the buzzsaw though - perhaps that would have been best a hitpoint reducer or something. (starting over fully in LD games is a drag)
Poor Larry. Adventurer life is though! It's a fun game with a lots of traps, congratulations. The only downside is that the level is too long - not sure if there are more levels, i only played level 0 because i died after a while and had to start again. Maybe some checkpoints would be nice. But the game has a lot of content, i think you guys made a great job.
Very nice game, and definitely not easy! Reminds me of the indie game La Mulana in the sense that random death is waiting at every corner in the temple. The game is quite polished for a LD game, so good work there!
The core mechanic of looting->carrying->throwing had a few problems though, since aiming at enemies was more difficult than it should have been, and trying to get the loot to say on a button is a nightmare. XD Maybe the loot could "stick" to certain objects when you throw it at them?

Like the button pressure mechanic, throwing away the loot is fun.
Wish there were some check points.

Sounds and Music matches the look and feel nicely. Well done!
But it's just a minor bug and I am sure you'll fix that!
Still enjoyed playing it though. Well done, team!

p.s. We have implemented the same "pick and throw" mechanic!

Overall, good fun!
