It's our first Ludum Dare Jam as a team and as you might guess it didn't go swimmingly 😅
Initially we had a programmer (Nikita), a pixel artist (Denis), a 2d artist (Xenia) and an audio guy (me). On Saturday we spent a lot of time brainstorming but we couldn't end up on the same note so we decided to run with the tamagochi + tower defense idea. Sadly it turned out that Nikita couldn't participate, so we had to regroup - Denis picked up programming and Xenia took both 2d and pixel art.
So, the game. The game is split into two phases: the first is the tamagochi/management phase, where you should feed, play and do things with your monsters, and the second one is the battle phase, which is part jrpg battle system, part tower defense. As of now you only can feed your monsters apples using gold that drops from enemies after each battle, everything else happens automatically. It's a decent idea that could potentially make a fun little game, but it definitely needs better execution.
* The idea works
* We ended up with a prototype despite all struggles
* A lot of assets ended up being unused
* We should've started with programming and go from there
We'll learn from our mistakes and make something better next time. Promise 😉

What went right
* Coming up with assets wasn't a problem* The idea works
* We ended up with a prototype despite all struggles
What went wrong
* The vision of the game was hazy and hard to fully comprehend* A lot of assets ended up being unused
* We should've started with programming and go from there
We'll learn from our mistakes and make something better next time. Promise 😉
