One hella weekend. Full of excitement, This was my first jam/compo and I am glad I was able to complete it within the given time. As always had to trim down a lot from my to-do list. Aimed for something achievable. Not entirely happy but not too bad either.
A tad too easy, Sounds was good, but I found the constantly changing "Tetris" pieces got a bit too distracting, and with the graphics, eventually made me want to stop playing due to feeling a bit sicky.
The game overall has promise but may not sit well with a lot of people. I hope you continue with this after the compo to update and continue! It could go leaps with the right love!
Simple game but fun game, occasionally however a block would spawn across the whole path making it impossible. If you were to make the game further making the player speed up as you get further in may make the game more of a challenge.
The game seemed easy until I was confessed to a wall. Can not dodge! The graphimes are simpas but lack of regularity. I think with a few more work the game can being more polished.
When I started playing, I thought the game would be quite boring, but fortunately, that was not the case! It does start out a bit slowly, but after a little while you're mashing on the arrow keys, trying to avoid the ever bigger blocks that come at you.
There's menu music, but no in game music - why? Also, I quite liked the graphics, except the flashing blocks - I would tone down that effect a lot.
Thanks @florian-van-strien for trying out the game. I implemented "in game" sounds, but since I am not good at music, it was a short tune and was becoming repititive too soon. In game play the game gives out a breath if you pass obstacles too closely.
Thanks for your advice on flashing block will consider that.
Hahaha I loved it! even if the idea is pretty simple, the design and sounds work perfectly!
small idea to make the game a little more complicated, to have difficult patterns of access on several lines, to ask the player to remain concentrated on the way instead of simply having blocks which appear in a random way ^^
A fun runner, starts out slow until the bigger blocks come. Then it becomes hard, maybe even impossible due to placement of blocks sometimes? But that may just be me... xD
The sound fits perfectly, and graphics are fine, but the flashing blocks could use a replacement :)
Interesting game that has some good potential. Some things I would note is that the flashing blocks hurt my eyes after a while and are very distracting. Also, it was impossible to keep going as I got to the point where the only way I would lose was when there were block across the entire play area. A forced lose is extremely aggravating and should be avoided at all costs.
@james-dunlap , thanks for the feedback. Yeah blocks certainly requires correction, received that from almost everyone. The blocks are auto generated, in my test run that never happened. I need to add an additional check on my spawner.
I would have Liked it if it slowly sped up over time. Also as others were pointing out the flashing blocks were a bit of an eye strain but besides that the art is nice. Good job.
Oh showing flashing blocks to a group of sleep-deprived LD devs isn't the best idea. :P Needed some balancing - but good effort for your first try though, keep at it!
Tetris shapes for obstacles! It would have been nice to see other progression mechanics in addition to the increasing speed. Lots of potential!
Looking good! Would have liked the ability to move up/down as well as left/right. Then maybe some moving obstacles for maximum punishment :) Great start!
I enjoyed the game and think it has a lot of potential as a mobile game! I would like progression, and it lacked a bit of overall polish but you only had one weekend and I know how stressful things can get. Great game I had a lot of fun!
Works well, although I lost because the path was fully blocked at some point  I liked the idea tetris shapes, it feels like your going upwards in a tetris game.
Graphics and sounds are okay but could largely be improved.
Throws me right back to the 8 bit era with the graphics and sounds. Reminds me of some Atari games. Game fits the theme nicely.
Web GL version was somewhat choppy, or laggy, making my eyes hurt so I couldn't play long. I eventually ran into non-passable full length block ending my game run short.
The UI buttons seems to be of different resolution than rest of the game.
Reverse tetris ok, Two things i found weird in your game; Why do you allow me to go outside of the playable zone just to kill me :(, and why are the tetris block outside of the zone that is clearly designed to kill me :((. The graphics are a bit too fuzzy i would suggest trying to do fewer assets but more cleaned, simpler etc...
Simple but effective. I encountered a block that totally block the path. Graphics have their style, not a big fan but not displeased by them either. I had fun playing the game and made a couple of run. Good job
Fun little experience. I don't know if it's a bug, or I just didn't get the controls\gameplay mechanics, but in one run I've got a 1 brick wide wall covering the whole road, so it was completely impossible for me to avoid it.
I had a fun while playing your game. This is typical game that encourage you to play and play to set new and new highscores. I don't have so much to say coz game is good but as always have something to improve as design or audio. Anyways good job man
Congratulations on a complete game as your first entry! The one thing that stood out to me was that the pieces placement needed a little more rules to the randomness. I ran into a few situations where I could not pass the pieces being spawned, and the difficulty ramp seemed to consist of "place larger pieces". But again, nicely done on a working game your first go! Please continue participating.
This was a great first game and a fun little diversion in its own right. I think the speed was good and the the difficulty ramp was worked well. The placement of the pieces could use a little less randomness.
You could do some little things to make it feel a little nicer. Maybe break the grid and let the players and blocks be placed everywhere? Tween the player's position between the columns so there is a feeling of movement?
Nice little game! I'd recommend to add check that each obstacle can be avoided: on my first attempt I got a horizontal line of blocks that covered the whole playfield, you can't avoid that!
Best of luck for Jam !!
