I'm SOO happy to be done with my first game jam EVER! Lavescape is a game where you (a little blue square) jumps on platforms trying not to get burned by quickly rising lava! (by the way'm 10 years old so that's why the game sucks lol, but rate me like i'm older please)
EDIT FROM AFTER JAM: I love that people ACTUALLY COMMENTED on my game! I'm surprised that i even got 4 stars average! Thanks for rating!
Fun Game! I like the minimalist art style, conveys all the information you need with nothing wasted. The downwards velocity on the jump feels a bit too linear, if you're not afraid of some math: youtube.com/watch?v=hG9SzQxaCm8 is a great video on jumping mechanics. Looking forward to seeing you next Ludum!
@sauski good advice, and i was trying to fix that but there were 2 main problems: - time (ran out of it) - can't figure out gravity. if it's too high, then you can't make some jumps, but if it's too low, then it's floaty. about running out of time, because i did the gameplay last (procedural generation takes a while to make) i didn't have time to nitpick the details, such as jumping physics. i also watched the video...(didn't really understand anything lol)
