Moon Racer

I liked it . It reminds me of hill climb racing.

Played this game with my boyfriend and here's our thoughts on it:

- good physics! We like the bobbing of the ship and the way it bounces around. It's really satisfying to watch

- sound effects and music sounded really good! But I don't see any credits for the sound/music. Are they original or did you forget to opt out of that category?

- the art is adorable! the style is memorable and nice to look at :)

- really wish there was jumping.. would have made it a lot more fun

- We love the menu animations! They look great. However, they became a little annoying after the first few plays of the game because you had to wait for the animation to finish before you could try again

- whenever you mess up/flip upside down, and you want to restart, you have to wait until the fuel empties before you can wait for the animations :P before you can click restart to try again. All this waiting time adds up and gets frustrating :'(

Overall, we had a lot of fun playing it. Your cute little alien, Pen, made us smile :) <3

Just really wish you could press R to restart. It would make the game so much more enjoyable. Waiting isn&#039;t fun.

@brooke Thanks for the good feedback! :smiley: I totally forgot about the credits for the sound/music. We made them together, but I probably should&#039;ve clarified that. When you flip upside down, there&#039;s a five second timer before the game stops. I did this to make sure that you wouldn&#039;t get the game over screen while making flips in the air, but I definitely agree that the wait times are annoying.

Nice game!

Really cool game, got such an Elasto Mania vibe from playing it.

Was really difficult though, hiding the timer mechanic with a fuel bar.

Not sure if randomly generated levels really lent itself to the gameplay, while really cool, I (personally) feel like part of the gameplay style like this is feeling the accomplishment of learning the levels and retrying until you "finally get it right".

Thumbs up with the music, haha!

I find this is rally good game, the art fits the feel of the game great, like the little wobble of wheels fit the sound effect will.

Controls are a bit tricky but overall good game!

Interesting game. Really difficult controll the car.

Maybe switch controls in the air A/D instead D/A so reverse axis is better controlled in the air. More fun to play. Other than that fun game. Only a bit hard to master. Interesting to see randomly generated track.

@2games2easy I spent a LOT of time testing the controls/physics to try and perfect it as much as possible, and I tried switching them in the air. While I definitely agree that it feels more natural, really annoying problems occurred when landing the vehicle (Because the wheels are spinning the other way, you basically instantly flipped over if you had any speed whatsoever). I wanted to add an option in the settings to switch the controls in the air but sadly we didn&#039;t have the time for it.

Nice entry, physics are cool and has this childhood game feeling to me!

I&#039;m not the BEST at these kinds of games, but I had fun playing it! The music is banging. The fact that you kept my high score is probably my favorite thing about the game - I actually kept playing longer than I anticipated because I was always *so close* to beating my high score :) I eventually called it quits after I scored 151 pts (like I said, not the best at these kinds of games) but it was fun competing with myself.

My only critique would be that once the ship flips over it&#039;s nearly impossible to correct. I found myself often waiting for my fuel to run out because I had no other option. Luckily it goes down rather quickly so I really wasn&#039;t waiting more than 2-3 seconds, but I&#039;m sure if you had more time it&#039;d be a thing you could fix.

Overall really cool game and great entry to LD42!

@katie-dover Thanks for the great feedback! And that score definitely isn&#039;t bad, I&#039;ve seen people play it with much lower scores :smile: The reason you were never waiting for more than 2-3 seconds is because there&#039;s a 5 second death timer on flipping over :) I had to add some kind of timer to allow you to do front/back flips in the air.

The idea for the game is really solid. However, i felt that the physics are quite unnatural. The car has a high tendency to flip when it&#039;s in mid air. It makes it challenging - a bit too challenging for me though. Nice entry!!
