I despise running out of space on my SSD/Windows drive, so when I saw the theme I knew I will make a game about that. I wanted something action-paced and quick to play (I know you people have a lot of games to get through :)). And since this was my first time using SDL2, it had to be relatively simple game. This fruit ninja clone won't win the Innovation category but I hope it will make you smile.

When the theme was announced i thoguht of a similar game, where you had to delete incoming new files. But you came up with a much better idea. I like the "Fruit Ninja"-like Gameplay a lot. You should add as many Icons and events as possible, to keep the game interesting. Aside from that, great idea and good implementation.
How did you find my PC from like 10 years ago? I miss that mouse trail :(
You've made me giggle and the gameplay is quite relaxing, although the mouse detection seems to occasionally miss a swipe. Also, is this in the right category? The graphics largely seem premade.
Enjoyed the humour, As The_Icy_One Said, input lag or whatever is causing the misses is a shame, other than that you have created a funny experience for most of us!
Very funny game! I had this idea half way through the competition and thought it would be genius to make a game about running out of space on the computer. I especially love the cutscene at the beginning. But I would personally change the trail to make it distinct from the cursor and make it get harder much faster.
Awsome game, especially the amazing intro catched me in an instant. And i liek how you paid attention to teh direction the player is cutting through the icons =) Only in the end it is getting a little bit messy because the already cut icons are a little bit slow on their way down.
@the-icy-one I am proud of that cursor :smile: I think it's still compo, I don't think remaking game icons just for sake of modification make sense, it's more about how you use them and I did have to cut them up. Similarly memes are just memes.
@devio I have not seen it miss personally, the logic is there has to be a cursor out-in-out of the icon so you need to be in motion. That being sad I would be the last person to mark my code as bug-less
@truc-e I quite like how the cursor turned out but I understand it's not for everyone. I kinda wanted everyone to finish on first try so I didn't want to make it too hard but I agree it could have been harder.
If only it were this easy to free up space on my actual computer. Good job. Only comment is that it's not 100% clear what you're supposed to be doing at first. Other than that, really liked it :smile:.

The concept was super creative, and I liked how you used actual windows icons, it added to the immersion. Most of the game was too easy. I really liked the summer sale section so I wish more of the game was like that. Good job.
definitely a creative idea wrap in familiar gameplay, but unfortunately for me the game become very repetitive, and too easy, difficulty level or probably bomb type enemy like in fruit ninja could work
Although I think you will not be the only one having their game focused aruond deleting files, damn you made it look good.
Some possible improvements:
-Support fullscreen resolution
-make destroyed icons fade out, during summer sale you can't see what icons you've hit and what ones you haven't so you just end up swiping your mouse back and forth, because of which the game becomes more luck based instead of skill based
-bad items (AKA items that fill up your hard drive) like a download shortcut or a virus. This way the game also becomes more skill based.
Dope features:
-The looks! (Do I even need to explain?)
-The way the game starts.
-Increased difficulty over time (although the start still felt kind of slow, so you could try changing up the speed at which the "waves" like summer sale etc. pop up
Intro was hilarious, gameplay was a nice twist and loved the steam sale popping up. However the same items keep popping up so after a while it loses the feel a bit, but that didn't ruin the fun! Good work :)
Very cool idea and good choice pairing it with fruit ninja gameplay. I wanted to do something involving running out of hard drive space but never came up with an idea that would work. The game was pretty easy up until the summer sale then I got destroyed. As many others have said adding bomb icons would help a lot as they would prevent randomly swinging your mouse back and forth to win.
I'm not sure how to feel about screenshot graphics, though I guess it is the most accurate to windows that you can get?
I also feel like it should've had a loss condition that wasn't just failing to delete (bomb icons as others have mentioned, probably like the system32 folder or something), more icons, etc. but I definitely get not putting it in given the time constraints.
Also, one thing I would've liked to see would be a quicker ramp-up to the summer sale. I feel like it dragged on too long with the same old joke.
Cool Game! I love the steam sales idea. It would have been cool for there to be more difficulty. Maybe you could have a System32 folder come up that would cause a blue screen if you sliced it!
lololol the summer sale at the end was just the surprise this game needed. I do wish I could cut the games into more than two pieces though, just really slash the devil out of them.
