How To Play: Click on the beehive to turn honey into bees Drag and shoot the bees to either kill the enemy bears or hit the flowers and make the bee into a honey-harvesting worker.
When you have enough honey you can upgrade your bees! The sign with the flowers will make all your new harvesting bees produce 2 more honey; but be careful. This will sacrifice all your existing harvester bees, and make your bees more expensive in the future. The sign with the sting will make your bees stronger. Again, this will make you sacrifice your entire bee-army.!
If you're up for a challenge, the current best recorded score is 53!
A bit hectic in the start, but I liked it overall. Expected it to be possible to hit several enemies with one bee, though. Would have liked that feature. Good entry!
I liked the concept as well, you have to be very fast, and it's fun to try to balance your economy and military. The game worked bug free for me which is quite impressing given this is made in a small amount of time. The graphics need an upgrade but it's a jam game so it's OK. Good job!
Really fun game - you really have to make quick decisions and have high accuracy here. Found it pretty difficult, but a challenge can be a good thing too :) GJ!
Most of REAL fun I had so far with an LD43 Game, it felt like a RTS/Tower Defense game. It had economy, great level design and pretty good use of the theme. Awesome game.
It's difficult at the beginning. There is basically only one strategy to follow, like you said yourself. So a small balancing issue there. But a nice game overall.
A good game all around! Nice way of using the same resource for multiple things, never having enough of everything at once. A menu and music that really sets the theme as well. Good job
51 kills and proud of it. Tough to start out but you get good after a little while. Mechanics would be SO much fun on a touch-enabled device. Good game. Well done.
A fun game, though super-challenging. As others stated above, the trick is to send most or all of your bees into the flower patch at the beginning.
One way to improve this game is to have the bears slow down or pause when they're hit. That way shooting a bear can buy the player some time to get the next shots ready. Overall a very good game though!
I have written this review twice now, and twice, my computer crashed itself on me before I could post it, forcing me to start over. Excuse any lack of details. It’s my fault. Your score hasn’t changed, I’m just more laconic.
The gameplay is somewhat fun, but the difficulty needs a lot better tuning. It’s too hard at the beginning but then gets really easy, really fast. I came up with a solution though: prevent the bears from spawning until the player has, say, 10-20 bees total. Then, make the bears gain health much faster than they do currently. My rating: 4 stars.
It’s not that innovative. The gameplay is rather basic, and the innovation that is there mostly stems from the theme, and when everybody does the exact same “innovative” thing, it gets old. My rating: 3 stars.
It fit the incredibly polarizing theme. Yay. My rating: 4 stars.
For mood, all I can say is: why did you opt out? Never opt out of mood.
I’m not going to lie here: the screenshots look bad enough that I almost didn’t rate this game. However, you took the “programmer art” and gave it life! The animations and effects truly are fantastic! Get yourself someone to collaborate with to draw better stuff for you, and your games will look amazing with those effects! My rating: 4 stars.
Overall, it’s an alright entry. Don’t let the screenshots fool you: it’s way more interesting when you’re playing than it appears. It has some major tweaks that need to be made, but its still a good game. My rating: 4 stars.
This is one of the more unique entries I've played so far. I like how seamlessly the resource management ties into the action part of the game, where you're essentially farming for ammunition.
As is the case with most game jam games, the difficulty tuning could be better. I rarely found myself running out of ammo, despite rarely sending bees to the flowers for pollination, but I think you were still able to get the spirit of the idea across, and that's what's most important for an event like this. :)
The flying bears was also a nice touch of hilarity that I enjoyed! The sound effects could maaaaayyybe be a little less harsh, but other than that, I think you have a really solid idea here!
Great entry! I really enjoyed it and had fun trying different strategies. The honey/flower upgrade didn't feel necessary though, and I felt it just set me back.
That's a great take on the theme, I like the idea ! The controls to attack is a bit weird but you get used to it pretty quickly. The main problem is that it's very difficult ! I couldn't manage to kill more than 3 bears. Maybe starting with easier ennemies that dies in one hit would have been better. But anyway, I still liked playing your game, it's simple and fun, so good job :)
I thought I broke the game by just upgrading sting power... that didn't pan out as well as I wanted XD
Nice entry! We actually almost made a game about bees, as well -- but ultimately went with a different game because we couldn't figure out the mechanics we wanted.
I had some times when I'd click a bee and it would warp to the center, throwing off my aim, but it was manageable.
