Instructions

Jerry always wanted to be a racer.

Today, he finally is going to achieve his dream.

Unfortunately for him, he has absolutely no idea how to properly race a car. So to make up for that, he will sacrifice parts of his car by throwing them at opponents, while making his car lighter, but less stable.

Use the buttons displayed on the screen to throw parts, mouse to aim, and the WASD keys to drive.

How To Install

Extract the zip to a folder, then double-click "Car Destruction Racer XIV.exe".

a few notes

I have no idea how we managed to do all of that in time but hoooolly shit was it intense.

Due to the large team size finding an idea was quite easy.

We managed to finish the core of the game in about the halfway point of the jam, and because James was coding the code, I could continue to refine the graphics again and again.

Overall I think we far surpassed our expectations, and our abilities and I think that's amazing.

Great game! The sound track really fit, and the little opening animation fit perfectly. The pixelation felt a but over the top, but other then that great job!

@turtlewit just added a linux and mac versions on the itch page. keep in mind that it was compiled after the jam ended, but the code itself has not been altered in any way.
another thing worth noting is that the linux and mac versions have not been tested, so hopefully itll work.
also, kudos to you for supporting open software!! i myself am too lazy to leave windows, but one day....

@fattori a web version of this game might be a little tricky considering its size. we have just uploaded linux and mac versions for the game though, so you might wanna look into that. if you do so, please read disclaimers above.

Its a super ıdea ı like the theme and visuals ıts look like gta san andreas.

Just car is too much unbalanced when the race is start the other cars have too god ai.

I think it's close enouhg.
I really enjoy trying to beat @rjwest07's score. When i check the time i was really confused (I opened and played like 4 hours). It's a real time killer, maybe a real-time score board makes it even better! (I love the sound at the end

God damn you even have a trailer !

Some people are right saying the mechanic is awkward but I think it was the intention. Graphics are really nice but I want to shine a spotlight on the sounds ! They are really good, so is the music. You really get these 80's vibes.

Wow this is cool! The art, sound, music and controls all blend together very well! This is really polished. LD car games usually control really poorly, but this one nails it. The sacrifice mechanic is weird but works really well. Nothing bad to say about this, except that it needs more levels!!!!!

Great job!

(Oh and please add the Mac and Linux links to this page. Most of the times I click back when I don't see a Mac link, but this time I scolled through the comments and saw by accident there was a Mac build)

Really awesome game, I would've loved to see more races but I can understand the time constraints. I found the game mechanics and application of the theme to be super funny. Loving the 80s vaporwave vibes too! Really great job.
