The game was great and I really enjoyed the aesthetic of it, made me giggle when I realized how you had implemented the theme. My only issue was that the spikes hit box was a little wonky and would kill me even if I didn't touch them
What a great concept! A lot of really fun things could happen with this game. You could even combine it with a 1 input system like Super Mario Run to build something like this for mobile. It's really has a lot of options.
This is really fun and really polished. Great job! I think the only thing that would have improved it for me is if there was some sort of reward for completing a level using fewer than the allotted number of zombies. That would add an extra challenge and some replayability.
Nice job, I played one has similar idea with you. But yours definitely is much better, the polished arts and really fun to play. This game is the third one I rated lots high stars in this LD.
The game was quite fun and the music and art were very nice. There are however a few collision issues and the jumping felt a bit off and I've seen a few games with the same concept. But overall a nice jam game!
Great concept. Good music and graphics, but I felt that some times it would drop my jump input too often, resulting in me losing too many zombies. Also you seem to be able to push already dead zombies when you're on top of them, resulting in a few too many accidental deaths as well.
Zombies! Yes! The hitbox of the spikes is a little annoying, killing me even when I touch it from the side, but that might just be my impatience with jump'n'runs... The idea is awesome, because walking over their undead-dead friends, with not a thought about their sacrifice is exactly what makes zombies so deadly!
I like the consept. Well adaption to theme. Good job. I have two things to tell you if you still interesting on game. First, jump mechanic is hard for me. A simple jump may better. And filter modes of the assets on credits scene at the end are not Point(no filter). That's why they are not look like pixel. Thank you for that game.
Hello everyone, unfortunately i'm aware of the minor bugs you've all mentioned.(import settings mistakes,(button sprites' filter settings aren't right on the credits scene) and some wrongly sized spike colliders) But this is the first time i've participated in a game jam and although I'm aware of the bugs, I couldn't find the time to fix them.
Thank you for your understanding & amazing feedback on our game.
Nice take on the theme! Jump feels a bit floaty and and the "jump cancel" (after you release the button) is definitely too sudden. Still I enjoyed playing it and wish there were a couple more levels. Music was kick-ass too.
it's very hard game!! I want to break my keyboard!!!!! Zombie dies near the spikes...and active zombie don't jump on two dead zombies :((((((((((((((((((( Anyway it's really funny game!
Hey guys, very neat idea, even though we apparently had very similar! My zombie was dying even when touching horizontal spikes from side, which is not very desirable I'd say. I liked the visuals and the overall feel with music and sfx, it seemed all very coherent and well thought to me. I think that more sense of progression in terms of increasing dificulty of levels would be great, it seemed to me even less difficult as I progressed and actually learned the controls. Overall, though short, still pretty fun and enjoyable experience! Thanks for that, keep it up!
I like that game! Different graphics for zombies are cool! And the cooles one was Santa xD Good idea of sacrificing them to pass the levels. Music and sound effects are also good! But why there are only a couple of level?! I wanted to play more! :P
Great game. Spike hit boxes could be a bit more generous, and the sliding corpses created some issues (Consider removing the RigidBody2D on death), but I liked the game a lot.
Awesome game guys, loved it, seems we had a fairly similar idea (just that in my game you sacrifice astronouts and can't directly control them). Love the art style and the music, as mentioned before the colliders are a big off but thats not a big deal. Tip in general: Make the colliders a bit smaller than the actual sprites, feels more natural. I was just wondering how the jump physics are implemented, did you use Physics at all or is it custom built? Anyways, especially if this is your first entry guys, you did a stellar job. Music also awesome!
Realizing what I have to do put a smile on my face, very clever use of the theme.
Character movement might be a bit rough around the edges, but it doesn't get in the way too much. Little trick you could use to make it a bit more responsive is to let the player jump for a fraction of a second after falling off a platform. This helps prevent some accidental deaths that might feel unfair sometimes.
Nitpicking aside, I would like to play more of this. It is simple, but in an elegant way. The retro aesthetic is well executed and cohesive, and it adds to the compact feel of the game.
Great idea and execution is sooo good! I like zombies sliding that gives you some options. I agree with other commentators that it is a bit hard because of hit boxes on the sides. However it made win so much more satisfying. Also the main music theme... I love it so much it will be in my head for next week thanks!
Very smooth pixel art and the mechanics were good, but sometimes the hitboxes were just a little bit too unforgiving. Besides that, I had a great time playing and finished all the levels. Great job! 👍
I liked it. I know this is the case with every game jam game but would have been nice to see the concept explored a little further. It's def one of the better ideas for the theme.
YAAAAAAAASSSSSS! This was one of the ideas that my team floated for our jam. We didn't end up going with it (I though it would be a nightmare to code), but I'm glad to see the idea got made. The only thing this game needs is more levels. Nicely done!
This was a good game I like it very much and was very entertaining. the only problem was the jumping felt a bit weird and would sometimes mess up and also the hitboxes were a bit weird but other than that it was a really fun game. Well done!
The first few levels felt pretty samey, but then I really liked the idea of stacking corpses to get higher. Unfortunately that was the last level. It felt like there was a lot more that you can explore with this concept, but there were only really two different puzzles. The music was great, but it was a little undercut by the very simple bfxr-like sound effects. Overall quite good entry though.
Cool stuff! Nice smooth platforming, clever mechanic, and good execution. Short but sweet. The only thing that bugged me was I thought the count was "extra lives" but in fact it was "number of zombies" so I kept thinking I had one more than I did. Anyway that's an extremely minor gripe - nicely done!
Good - Solid game with high level of polish - Very innovative mechanic with the zombie sacrifice
Could be improved - The spikes hitbox is too wide causing you to die just by going near it (even before the jump) - Sometimes the dead zombies will move, making it hard to pave the way to the brain
Zoooombies! I really like zombies. I was a bit sad to let so many of them die. But sacrifices must be made, you know.
Ok seriously: nice graphics! For me the puzzles were a bit too easy actually. Would have loved to have more and more difficult ones, but well, already quite nice for a game jam entry. All in all it is a funny and nice game, with cool graphics, motivating music and at least a little bit of a learning curve. If made a longer game, could be probably improved. ;)
@kambing: Actually you could use the movement of the zombies to your advantage so I am not sure if it is completely a bad thing?
Your game was played on my stream ( twitch.tv/ursagames ) for the second day of Ludum Dare streams - you can find the timestamp of your game here: https://goo.gl/N2rkr8
Very nice! I liked how you tied in the theme and the graphics were very nice. The movement felt a little floaty at times and I kept accidentally bumping the corpses, but I still finished and enjoyed the game.
Great job for making it through the jam. It's great to find a game that has such a straightforward use of the theme, rather than trying too hard to be clever. While it was very short and simple, it was still a nice experience.
The constrains of time really show up though, with some wonky physics here and there. The levels were too easy, except when collisions caused problems. Still though, the sound selection and visuals worked perfectly, and the zombies with Santa hats were a great touch.
Keep on participating on LD jams. My team would like to see what else you can come up with next time. Cheers! 🐳
The idea isn't very original but i enjoyed the graphics and i thought the song was GREAT, very catchy! I was moving my head all the time haha. The controls felt a little clunky at times but it wasn't really a problem. Good job guys :)
Such a great use of the theme! Really liked the whole presentation, the menus, and graphics were great! Like others have said, i ran into a couple issues with the hitboxes(maybe shrink them down on the spikes), and a corpse moving out of the way when i landed on it(maybe make them immobile on death?), but great nonetheless!
Hello again, actually moving bodies were intentional. (we thought about adding buttons which can be activated by dying on them etc. and also for a puzzle/platformer we thought it would be a pretty good idea to be able to move the corpses.) But unfortunately since it is my first jam, I couldn't implement the features we have planned over such a short amount of time but still,
Thank you for your valuable feedback & spending time playing our game everyone.
Well made game. The graphics are nice too look at. I especially like the sounds and music, it fits well. The gameplay is simple, but that's good. The collisions were kinda weird, sometimes you can face-run into spikes, sometimes you don't. Fun game, however I could not get past the 3rd level, I could not get the zombie any further.
I liked humor and audio! Gameplay is not very original, I saw already few games with similar idea (frankly it was my first idea for this jam as well). Very nice entry overall!
This game was really well done- I seriously love the graphics, and the execution of the theme was quite nice. The music was pretty nice as well- along with the basic- yet fun- levels. Great job on this!!
Very fun game, great job! Funny pixel art + dynamic 8bit music blend in perfectly. And the idea of using the dead bodies of zombie friends looks successfully. Passed it with pleasure.
Good use of the theme as a central mechanic. I could have played more. I did get briefly stuck on level 3. I knew what I wanted to do but I kept clipping the corner of the spike trap and dying before I wanted.
I really liked the concept! I sacrificed zombies a lot on the second (or was it the third?) level. The spikes on the edge of the clip kept killing me when I didn't want them to, but the level was still manageable even when I needed to be a little more careful!

Totally within the theme, nice little music... and I appreciate to restart on current level as I'm not a good player ;)

Good zombie, I mean, great work guys!

Very nice entry overall!
thank you for sharing your game with me and letting me play it on stream. Best music of any LD so far, forever.
* I liked the game's music because it did not sound repetitive and it was some nice sounding music that fit the mood of the game.
One Concept I Disliked:
* I did not like the jumping physics as I thought the gravity was too strong when falling and this was unrealistic.
