This is an RPG game, developed using RPG maker VX Ace, with story elements involving sacrifice and (literal) growth. The core goal of the game is to defeat the evil behemoth king. This is done by absorbing enemies, collecting and using their life energy to increase in size until you are large enough to fight the king directly. Once you increase in size smaller enemies won't supply further life essence; you can effortlessly overpower and absorb them to heal yourself but you will need to fight behemoths of your own size to continue growing. Naturally you aren't immune to the laws of nature either; you stand no chance against behemoths larger than you, who are more than happy to absorb you for sustinance.
Battles are turn-based in traditional RPG style, with an on-attack quick-time event allowing the 0layer to dull an enemy blow or bolster their own attacks and spells. Enemies are absorbed as they fall mod-battle, meaning against tougher groups of enemies the player can harvest life essence and treasures off an enemy before swiftly retreating from the fight. On the other hand, defeating all enemies will reward the player additional life essence, with the amount increasing based on the number of enemies faced.
The game is aimed to be story-focused and driven, with game mechanics supplimenting the narrative. Without spoilers, the gams starts with a necessary sacrifice that plays a persisting role in how this story plays out.
