It is the year 1000 A.D. You’re Leif.

Food shortage makes your and your fellow Leifs’ lifes tedious.
You lead your Leifs with the last food onboard and set sail to seek fertile land.
To keep your Leifs alive, you need to pay with your Leifs: If you’re lucky, you will encounter an island populated by a tribe that has worked around the food shortage by eating Leifs. There, you can trade Leifs for food. Other islanders are less friendly and try to end your Leifs. Send your Leifs into battle and conquer their food supplies. If you lose, they will do the same to you. Remember travelling with too little food will send Leifs into the afterlife. Try to reach the fertile lands without running out of Food or Leifs!

Interesting take on the theme. Have not been able to win the game yet. :-D Gonna try it a little bit more.

The graphics are a bit stretched, making the text look blurry.

Fun game! Needs a way to restart when you lose. Reasonably difficult, it took me a few tries to beat it but felt satisfying when I did. Nicely done!

Audio was hilarious. I imagine that you all were working on the game and the sound person came in and was like, "we need to record the death sounds... quick everyone make death sounds." The music was fun and worked perfectly with the humor of the game. Obligatory, "the blurry text hurt my head head" comment. Great jam!!

What a nice game! I accidentally cheesed through the game on my first try as I sent all my Leifs to the very first battle, not realizing they would all die. Turns out the food from that battle was enough to sustain my last Leif all the way to the finish. :sweat_smile:

Subsequent playthroughs didn't work out that well when I tried to play "properly". :smiley:

Nice work. Beautiful art and fitting music. Maybe include some different events to make the game a little more tactical? Or instead of head on battle, some kind of ambush tactics that cost more food, but more men survive? Just some ideas :D Good job

So happy that I can download the music because it made me laugh a lot :) Love this game, the graphics, the waves animation. Most of all the interface was very clear. One of my favourites.
