Love the music to this. Not much in the way of gameplay. Once I had invested in a handful of buildings, I just had to wait, but that's how investing goes, isn't it? :)

The music is nice, and the graphics too! I'm not sure what the exact goal is, though. I got all the buildings (I guess that is what "build up the town" meant) and full cash but I don't see anything special happening. Also I find references to a lot of buildings that I never saw in the hints. Am I missing anything?

Great music. Great graphics. I enjoyed exploring the town to see what I could invest in. Those hints are a bit pricey.
I'd like to see a procedurally generated town, so it's not the same layout each time.

@bakenshake @plexsoup @toasteater thanks for playing. :)
To win this game one has to get over a budget of 480000$. Admittedly, that could have been a bit clearer.
We were pretty short on time and couldn't pack in everything we wanted to, so some buildings and events are missing.

The music on the start screen is great but unfortunately the game won't load for me. The loading screen appears but then it just flashes between the start screen and the loading screen. Maybe you want to have a look into this.
Bitron30 Apr 2019, 10:21
@themoonrise it happens from time to time with godots html exports. Usually this issue disappears when you reload the page.
Alternatively, you can download it for your platform.

Great presentation and feels like a rounded title. Needs a little more depth I feel but a great entry. Nice work.

Nice cosy graphics, funky tune and good humor :) Can you explain the difference between income and upkeep? That will help me a lot. Also if you have a popup of a building that you don't have the money for, but your balance ticks over, the button doesn't automatically turn orange and you have to close the popup and search the building again. But that's just a small glitch in an otherwise very nice executed game!
Bitron30 Apr 2019, 20:13
@supernapie internally, there is Revenue, Upkeep and Income.
Revenue is the raw money that the building makes. Upkeep is the buildings expenses.
Income is Revenue - Upkeep, so what you actually get onto your bank account.

You got me addicted for sure! I love managing games, those are my favorite kind of games. I got some laughs too, haha! You got a high rating from me for sure. Have a nice one - thanks!
Bitron1 May 2019, 12:21
@dudum-lare you got some high income right there!
Thanks for playing. :)

Sadly all it does for me is this:

I really like the music though and what it looks like from the screenshots it seems lie a fun game to play!

This is the console output, which comes repeadetly:
ERROR: Method/Function Failed, returning: RES()
At: core/io/resource_loader.cpp:487:load_interactive() - Method/Function Failed, returning: RES()
Bitron1 May 2019, 13:30
@cozmic it usually disappears when you reload the page.
What might also help is using a different browser.
It's an issue with how html5 is exported with godot, so there is not much I can do about it.

Electro market for life, gonna build one of those IRL thanks to this game, EZ money EZ life.
Jokes aside, entertaining game, the music is very chill to get through building everything, pixel art works really well with this concept and no noticeable bugs.

Solid entry, props!

@bitron I think you should add a little note for that somewhere, for clarity. I tried it with Chrome and all works fine!

The game itself is really funny for me, from all I played so far I enjoyed it the most I think!
Graphics and audio are both really nice for it!

One thing I'd like is the abily to drag the world around. I think it would be easier to use than key movement.

BUt other than that, I love it!

So sweet to play, love the music and graphism was cute !
Aspect1 May 2019, 14:25
pretty linear gameplay, but surely can be easily extended into nonlinear if we got more time :D Also pretty addictive, just had to build all the buildings :) nice background music.

Overall: Fun, gentle, happy city builder. I like it.

Fun: It's nice. It's a little on the slow side, but that just makes it relaxing. I didn't realise for an embarrassingly long time that I could move the camera around! Some other things weren't clear - I saw that supermarkets get a better income when there are more houses, but I don't know what other rules are going on. In the end I just built everything, which worked fine. The idea of charging money for hints is neat, but when I clicked on the first one it wasn't very useful so I didn't spend any more money until another playthrough.

Innovation: At first it looks like a city builder. But it doesn't play the same as one, so I'm happy with that!

Theme: It meets the theme; if you run out of money, you lose the game. That's what happens in most city builders anyway, though.

Graphics: The graphics are nice, and functional.

Audio: I really like the music. The sound effects are good too.

Humor: I enjoyed the newspaper articles, although for some, it wasn't clear whether they're telling me something about the game, or just for flavour. Also enjoyed the hints when I came back to them later.

Mood: Good. Relaxing city builder.

P.S. Half expected the statue of Godot to never come.

Almost got me addicted! But it seems like I'm terrible at it and I keep going bankrupt.

Everything in this game feels right. I really like it!
Bitron1 May 2019, 15:04
@hestrateja yeah I think the electro marked is a bit OP.
It gets you even more once you have the factory build!

@cozmic you should be able to drag the world around with your middle mouse button! :)

@lola thanks! :)

@aspect yeah we got short on time in the end and didn't get all the buildings, requirements and events in that we wanted.
Still, I think it turned out alright.

@reheated thanks for the detailed feedback!
I think only the weather report is not gameplay related.
And the very first welcome article.

@nava build the farm and lumber yard first. :P

I like this game, but the first time i played it I didn't even notice that you could scroll the screen, so I just finished the block you start in and came back here to find that there was even more >.

I couldn't stop playing... this is a great game!!
Bitron1 May 2019, 17:03
Hi @golden :wave:
nice to hear you had fun! :)
X Budsterized X1 May 2019, 18:06
I had exactly the opposite problem of @nava :D a just couldn't go bankrupt and eventually won the game :D

Good job, I really, really enjoyed playing your game. It actually felt like a finished product :v:

I nice take on the theme, with stylized graphics/art that is consistent and adds to mood of the game. Nice and intuitive controls/buttons/gameplay. And has replayability factor and could potentially be expanded post-jam? Excellent entry.
