A game made entirely from scratch in 72 hours for the 45th Ludum Dare game jam.
Arrows keys to move. Gather ingredients for Mr.J When all ingredient are gathered, a dialog box from Mr.J will appear. You only need to find him in order to get to the next level ! Dodge Doggos & Perverts.
I want to rate this fairly but I don't want to come off sounding too harsh. Theres quite a few bugs, such as walkking animations jittering and after collecting all the items mr J asked for, the game didn't end or continue, and I wasn't given any option to do anything else. I found the family portrait but that also didn't do anything. That being said you mention you're a team thats new to game design and compared to some my early work this is a good start, and I think if you continue to work hard at it you'll go on to produce some good stuff.
It's an interesting take on the theme, and I liked your text scrolling effect. Keep doing your best.
However I'm a little concerned Mr J. is ok with me collecting street lemons surrounded by rabid dogs haha.
Thanks for your review. I knew the jittering animation is ugly, but we didn't manage to fix it. It happens when you press one directionnal key + up or down.
For your second problem, about the dialog box, I just tried that in Unity and it worked pretty well in all levels. :(
Good effort! Unfortunately the game didn't continue after collecting all the items and the character jitters like crazy. I like the classic art style. The intro text could have been more to the point for my taste ;)
@joelikespigs hey joel, thank you for playing our game (or trying to anyway ahaha). We are actually working on resolving that bug that we didn't encouter before uploading our game..
I think the reason people fail to give Mr.J his items is that rather than clicking on "click here" you have to click above it. It could be an issue with screen resolution, but I'm not sure. I also notices that the reloading after bumping into things takes oddly long. Overall I think it's not bad for people just starting to make games.
I liked the gameplay, collecting the items and Mr. J appearing. It would make a great indie game for release if you continue to work on it and add more levels! The ending seemed sudden, wasn't sure if my ending was a glitch or I actually escaped in time. But either way, great game!
