Cool game!!! I think if this game had some post processing it will be cooler, and music is download from web, but for fitting them to the game I will give 3.5 stars.
you got a neer perfect score from me i think that your art is lovely and the mood is realy good. As an improvement, i would say that you could zoom out a bit and the bounding box of the tree is a bit too big so we can only hug the lumberjack from behind the tree. Otherwise, nuice job!
Pretty neat! The theme definitely fits and I like the intensity of going to hell for a loss haha. I agree with others that the zoom could be taken out, but it wasn't a huge issue. Likewise with the bounding box on the tree. The art was done nicely a well. Thanks for letting us play!
ooo tree its a very super concept of the topic/theme and protecting nature if u dont mind u can also make game about covid-19 with this concept overall its very addictive game
A solid entry without any huge issues, so nice work. That being said, I found it to be really easy. I played for a few minutes and it felt like the difficulty escalated a little, but nearly enough for it to feel like I was in danger of losing. Also, the low resolution, pixelated graphics seemed really strange. These are small problems in the grand scheme of things, however. Overall, you did a good job.

I also want to let you all know that I have uploaded a new version where the camera is not as zoomed in and it fixed a bug where the score wouldn't reset itself when starting a new game in the same session.
The lovesplosions and felt really nice although they bugged a bit near the tree. Art style is quite nice and I know you didn't make the song but it fits quite nicely to the gameplay. The theme is also very nicely implemented but the gameplay i find a bit boring after a while. Adding some more threats to the tree might be nice in a next version. Overall nicelooking and feeling game with a bit simple gameplay but I definitely enjoyed it. Lovesplosion! :D
Great game. Music and graphics were great. Also, please post controls in how to play if possible. I didn't know right click heals the tree and watched him die a slow painful death as I collected trash.
@gamer-fates Thank you for the feedback! The controls are WASD or Arrow keys to move and Esc to pause the game, input from the mouse is not programmed into the main gameplay. You heal the tree by collecting trash, unfortunately as the build stands the health bar only updates when the tree is taking damage and it's something that I need to fix. How you can stop the tree from taking damage is by walking over to the lumberjacks that are cutting down the tree like you would when picking up trash, it'll look like you are walking behind the tree when doing so because of how I have the game programmed currently. I apologize for the confusion and I will look into making the rules more clear in the future. Thank you for taking the time to play my game!
There is a really nice little core gameplay loop in this that kept me playing far longer than I would have expected. A few things could have really improved this game, either have the player move a little faster than the lumberjacks or make the lumberjacks more slower, or move in a less direct route towards the tree, far too often I was away from the tree for a couple of seconds and then had two or three lumberjacks seemingly spawn in on top of the tree (they had run in very quickly from the opposite side of the map) and I had no chance to stop them. Also having to stop them from behind the tree was very counter intuitive. Perhaps having something on the UI to indicate the presence of a lumberjack near the tree would help as well.
If I were to improve on this game I would have the map be a little smaller, but have obstacles to avoid (for example put down some hedges or a park bench that you can't walk through) and more than one type of collectable with different score values (perhaps even add some flowers that add to your score at the end that grow over time, but die if you trample on them).
Not bad for a weekend's work. Look forward to seeing what you create next time.
Quite a nice game with the core elements working well. I did enjoy the graphics and the "explosion" effect was humorous too, it is always more satisfying when something changes on screen when interacting with something.
The music was nice to make the game a bit more engaging but some SFX would have made it a lot better I think. Finally the biggest problem I had was the slow difficulty curve and lack of variation in gameplay, I lost intentionally because it was too easy so maybe tweaking that a bit would be nice. Of course it is always better to have an easy game rather than a difficult one in Ludum Dare since most people don't bother playing the game for very long if it's too hard.
Simple concept, clean execution. Nice! The only part that threw me off was that one of the lumberjacks seemed to be inside the tree, and I couldn't reach him. I finally figured out that you could get him by walking behind the tree. Maybe it would be better to not have any tree collisions at all for the player?
The pixel art was really cute! I found the collider on the tree kind of confusing. To get to where the lumberjacks go to you have to go behind the tree. I'm not sure why the lumberjacks seem to appear out of nowhere. It seems like they could just come from off the edge of the level. I think it would be better if you couldn't just stay behind the tree and instantly kill the lumberjacks.
That pixel art is really cute! Great music! The collision was confusing at first but once you get the hang of it, it's super fun! And nothing can go wrong when there is pixel art! :grin:
I reached 220 and then got tired of nothing new happening and I think the game stopped getting harder?
it was very not fun to see lumber jack spawn near the tree though :) I think they should spawn of map not off screen. also it needs some variations and stuff to make it more interesting and challenging.
A Decent game, I liked it! I liked the art style, and I also liked the general mood of the game, positives vibes! I also like how you made a pause menu, and the general polish such as making it so that different menu's have different themes!
The feedback I would give would be to give collecting trash a purpose, there wasn't really any incentive to collect the trash, maybe make it like you have to collect 50 trash and you would win the game. But apart from that the game is decent :D
