Kill the bacteria, avoid the enzymes.! A twist on an endless runner.
This is a game about real bacteria that affect people. We thought this game would be relevant because of the current pandemic. The aim was to also create a library along with the game, with information regarding all the infections these bacteria cause as a way to create awareness but we ran out of time before we could finish it. We hope to finish it in the future but for now I hope you guys enjoy this version :)
Controls:
Press the left arrow key to move left and the right arrow key to move right.
The game also supports touch. Touch the left side of the screen to move left and the right side of the screen to move right.
This was a lot of fun, the art style fit well with the game, the only thing I noticed was you could still move when you ran out of health and the download link lists windows but is actually a web based game so could probably be run on any platform.
Great game, would love it to use the sword that the player carrys to attack the enemies(mabye like special sword swing ability with a cool down timer). Cute graphics and nice music too. Overall fun game, fits the theme well.
This game got a chuckle out of me since I recently got a case of staph infection earlier this year. The only feedback I have is that I like the menu music more than the actually game music but thats just personal preference. Well done overall!
Very funny to see the pizza and other food in the stomach! Would have been nice if the player was a bit animated from time to time (not just when dying). Also sometimes, I thought that the collision detection was a bit unfair. I really liked the game. Thanks for the experience.
Great feeling game and lovely aesthetic, i would have loved a mechanic that makes you want to kill bacteria more than just score. Some danger and suspense.
Simple game, but I think it fits the idea perfectly!! Why do you lose 2 lives every time you touch an enzyme? It is kind of weird that nothing else takes 1 live out (or at least I haven't seen it xD)
I really liked this! It actually felt like an adventure. I recommend adding a way to heal health, and also spawn enemies instead of moving them to the bottom :P But I made it to level 8, good game!
This was a really good concept. I liked seeing the depiction of the clogged arteries with the junk food. Some things I wanted to see in gameplay though were to have each enemy maybe move or even attack differently. You have a lot of different designs for enemies which is awesome, but in the current state, I feel like I've seen all the game has to offer around level 1 or 2 since there's no change in gameplay. Maybe you can add like an enemy that shoots a slow projectile, or maybe an enemy with a shield of some sort to add more variety. All in all, I think you have the foundations for something really fun, and I hope you choose to expand upon it further!
@legavroche I've been working on adding power ups and boosts for the pill, and changing the enzymes into different enemies for each level I did not have time to finish them for the jam but I will be releasing all these features and more in the commercial version soon.
I think the scope is really important, this was a good jam game premise because it wasn't overly complicated. Character moves with arrow keys, other stuff moves north. Your art was great. The junk food in the artery is a nice touch. Super cool to see someone still working on a project after the jam.
I think that it's wonderful that you participated in Ludum Dare and brought your perspective as biologists to the table and I hope it won't be the last game you develop! I was a little bit confused at first because I was more inclined to pick up the yellow half-circles because they had such cute faces!
