_ Hello fellow Developers and Gamers!_

First let me start with this! I was aware about Ludum Dare for a long time, but I never participated in it. That changed this weekend :smile: ! I finally decided to give this event a go and to try to develop a game in Unity! I have messed around with Unity before, but I never managed to "produce" something. That changed today as I've just "finished" my first "game" in it -> Keep E.T Alive.

So as name of the game suggest I followed the idea of the theme ... perhaps too much :smile:. E.T has returned from his home planet back to Earth. He realized that he is missing some of the finest things from Earth - such as _Beer_ or _Meat_. But he is very exhausted from the trip so you need to keep him alive! Feed him, don't let him be thirsty and also clean after him. He may occasionally start to bleed as he is adjusting to earthly atmosphere again, so take care of that too!

Few Notes from my development process:
- Graphics - First I wanted to go with pixel-art, but I quickly realized that I will not have time for it as I'm not very - good at drawing it (it's something I definitely want to improve on in future). So I decided for super fast solution -> MS Paint. All Sprites were drawn with it, hardest part was E.T itself as I had to combine different shapes, in different angles and sizes. I used GIMP for adding transparent layers.
- Code - In my professional life I am front-end React developer so when I realized that I can just use VSCode I was super happy! I set up few things, configured some extensions and I started coding right away! I learned a lot as this was basically my first project in Unity (they made their docs really easy to read). One thing that helped me a lot was plugin iTween recommended by a friend.
- Audio - This might have been my favorite part. I laughed whole time as I was creating and editing those sound effects. Good thing that I had that beer in fridge and also duck tape.

Things that I would improve or change:
Biggest problem was the time. There are a couple of things that I really wanted to add to the game but I just didn't have time.
1. Animations for E.T - right now E.T looks super blunt and it worsens overall feeling from the game. I wanted to add expressions to his face when beer was close to his Infusion or face of guilt when he would poop himself.
2. Another Need for E.T - there was a plan to add one more item iPhone with airpods. Player would have to give E.T airpods to both ears and then start song on iPhone (it would also change game sound loop) and than when E.T would have enough of listening, remove them and stop the song.
3. Better music - game sound loops were the last things I worked on and it shows. I used this web app https://beepbox.co/ to create some songs but I am really not happy with outcomes. I felt like my head wanted to explode at some point.

Overall I am super happy that I did this. I learned a lot, got nice experience and mainly it was super fun. I definitely will try next Ludum Dare! Heck, I might start working on some other game in meanwhile just because I might feel like it!

Finaly I can get my degree as an aliendoctor! I waited for it too long

i've tried to download the web version but just couldn't find out to run it. I had a warning of `It seems your browser does not support running Unity WebGL content from file:// urls. Please upload it to an http server, or try a different browser.`. Really want to be an alien doctor

This is nightmare fuel, a bleeding and pooping E.T. who has a beer IV drip, with accompanying noises... Still, very adherent to the theme and indeed playable! The concept could translate well to mobile, with touch-dragging for item use.

It kinda feels like 100yo grandma simulator, was fun to play, i went straigth to -35 at the beginning but hey, managed to get back to 25. Simple mechanic yet the game still manage to melt my brain, i had to think so fast. That's a really cool idea, it feels like a fast-paced point and click game.

He poop too much tho. Had fun playing this.

The poof sound and the weird noise the alien made crack me up so hard :D I don't know what this alien had on earth but his poop rate is exceptional. Pooper of the year

The game kind of makes me care about the alien, which is, I guess, a good point! Good point choosing a way to make fast graphics. It works anyway :)

good fun to play although a bit tricky on laptop mouse pad

Good job with the game! I got some notes for you:

Great stuff

* Catchy music
* Good game loop
* Hilarious sound effects!

Small stuff you could improve

* Bit hard to understand what to do at first. Maybe include some tutorial text?
* The red color on the score text is a bit tough to look at
* Able to have a negative score count

All in all good game that made me crack up real hard!

Nice game:) The music was fitting and sounds were funky. Howver, maybe it was issue at my end, but the colliders on the items were to small, and at first I did not know where to put them. Fun game, but I went to negative score very quickly :D

I... I don't know what I just witnessed.. xD

That's one hell of a funny game! Those are amazing sound effects, never knew that E.T. had such an annoying voice.
Only problem I had was that it didn't properly pick up the "tools"

I gotta admit, I laughed at the sound effects, especially the beer getting poured down the IV. The game itself gets way too fast at some point, I think it would benefit from a better difficulty curve. Still, I got a good laugh out of it and that's always a plus in my book

Finally a game with humor :))

That moaning sound! Insane Love the game!

I love it, although moving the objects to the body it's bit hard and not initially obvious where to put them. My guys was definitely crapping too much lol. It's funny, the graphic although basic it's nicely done (I'm rubbish at it so I feel you), the audio adds to the fun element. Although playing a game to attend a sick person in this specific moment in time it's bit morbid, the fun elements you added lifted it up. Well done!

I liked a lot, sounds are great, art is simple but worked very well here. Congratulations on finishing your first game. Good job!

Neat game with a really cool idea. Those sounds are straight from my nightmares.

Art was kinda simple, the sounds were a bit grating, but the concept and execution were pretty good for a laugh

Really fun game. Especially the sound effects, they made me laugh a lot :)
And the game play get trickier quite quickly.
Nice one.

I like this game's sense of humor :)

Things that could be improved:
* I had some problems picking up the items, it wasn't very responsive, and when the game was going very fast it became frustrating.
* The fail sound effect was a bit annoying after some time.

Things I liked:
* The idea of having to look at different places like the monitor and the E.T. body is very fun!
* You managed to use the theme in a very humorous way haha.

I got 350 points! It was very fun!

Nice work! I read you are front-end React developer it is quite a big step to get to Unity. For the first game, it is really impressive, keep going. IF you learned this in 48h you will get to some really good games in the future. Well done!

Wow, E.T. really does not want to stay alive :smile: Great game! I understand why you had so much fun making the sfx! Hope you participate in future jams!
