Haha it gets so wild when we progress levels. Nice entry. Pretty simple concept but it works instantly! I am sure it could be a great mobile game with more polish. And Haxe is great ;)
timely. good job. the green ones threw me for a loop i wasn't sure at first if they were still viruses or not. gets challenging rather quickly once those are introduced. well done.
Not gonna lie, the way the mask moves is as smooth as butter. Also, nice ease-out effect on the incoming enemies. The green ones are a pain tho. They move so fast
Seems to be a bug on the web version. When I press space to start the game, I get the fade in to black with the words "Stage 1 Begins" over and over again and I can't do anything.
@tednesday Hmm...some people had gotten it. Some said it went away with refreshing the page and people that got these bug were using chrome(assuming you are using chrome too). So, can you try refreshing or switch browser?
Simple and fun, and I liked the pixel art as well! Sadly after my first try I ran into the level start freeze bug at the start of level 1 on Firefox, and then on Chrome I couldn't get the game to load. If it wasn't for the bug, I would have enjoyed playing some more! A few particle or sound effects for hits would be a nice addition.
@arttu-halonen Look like many people are getting this bug then I excepted. Is it reproducible? Does the bug appear even after refreshing the broswer and re-playing? If you go to `3 Dash on top right corner - Web Developer - Debugger, do you see errors? If so then what are the errors?`
@cjgammon@syrapt0r@k4v0x@ridde@oscartaylor Yes, I noticed green ones are faster than they should be. I should have done more testing with more people. The people I tested with seems to be ok with the difficulty level. Anyway thanks for playing!
@blackgoku36 Well now on Firefox I'm having trouble getting the game to load, the debugger console keeps racking up errors at an alarming rate (a few hundred per second, it seems). I'm not sure how or why, but having tried to load the game a few times, one time I did get it to load the start screen, where the debugger only showed warnings and a message ("kha/graphics4/PipelineState.hx:111: Warning: Sampler tex not found. kha.js:277:11"). After that I could play through stages 1 and 2, but stage 3 had the flashing bug at the start and the game froze, but there were no additional warnings, errors or messages in the debugger console.
So it seems to me that there is one bug that stops the game from loading (Only sometimes? Refreshing the page a few times seems to eventually fix this.) and another but that freezes the game in an endless loop at the start of a stage. Good luck in your debugging, I know that this stuff can get frustrating.
I LOVE the easing on the initial virus' makes the game feel tough even though that first level is very forgiving. The green virus' are really tough to predict, I wonder if a future version of this would benefit from a brief vulnerable period right before it attacks the heart or something? Overall good work!
@arttu-halonen Thank you so much for that. I have test build: https://blackgoku36.itch.io/test (password: 123), the bug *should* be fixed there, can you test it. So that if it is fixed, I push to this public build.
@01010111 Thanks! The direction in green virus moves is completely random and it doesn't target heart at all. The original idea of green virus was for jumpscares and nothing else. Yes, I do have some ideas.
@blackgoku36 Tried the test build, still having issues while loading the game. I tried this several times (incognito mode and regular mode). I cannot detect a pattern as to when it works and when it does not. Spamming refresh seems to fix it eventually.
I also ran into the flashing stage begin bug again. These problems happen on Firefox and Chrome for me.
@blackgoku36 Great news! I tried the test build multiple times on both Firefox and Chrome, and didn't get either bug this time. Looks like the loading errors and the stage begin bug are fixed, at least from what I saw. Nicely done!
Very nice and simple game, I did a 109! I feel like after few levels it becomes impossible to stop some viruses because of the mask speed (it's maybe my framerate on browser that's a bit low too idk) So it's difficult to go far from this point.
Well done for your first ld! (It's my first too :)

Yeah, many people said it would make good mobile game. So maybe post-LD
Yeah, my idea was to give people jumpscares
Yeah, I think so too!
The pixel art is cute, and the game controls is really satisfying, it's smooth and great!
Plus, the game fits well with both the theme and the current global situation :3c
My only complaint is a small one, it is the lack thereof audio, but it's a rather minor one uwu
Well done!
