This little game is based on the real life water cycle. - the water is evaporated, forms clouds, rains down and then a small beaver collects it into a bucket and hauls it back to the river. True story.

Game has been made in Unity in approx 12 hours. The "art" took most of the time. I used sfxr for the sound effects, but as I am even worse musician than designer, there's no music.

Gameplay:

Player controls a beaver who has to catch raindrops and pour the water back into the river before it runs completely dry and all the fish are dead.

Controls:

A or left arrow to go left
D or right arrow to go right

Should also work with gamepad, I haven't tested it however.

The bucket is emptied automatically when player is on the edge.

Hope you enjoy it for at least a few minutes.

I never realized the tough life of a beaver. Thank you for teaching me this story of nature. I will be sure to leave more buckets near rivers in case the beavers don't have any.

I was far more amused at the simple beaver running animation than I have any right to be. Also, I had no idea how important beavers were to our water cycle! #TheMoreYouKnow

I'd say you made yourself a nice little game within your 12-hour time span. Nice work!

Frustrating gameplay, just because I'm a completionist and as soon as I dropped below 100% I knew I was just fighting to keep what I had. Great art! Nice job.

This was my first jam and didn't know what to expect, but the community here is really nice :-) Hope I didn't forget to mention anyone.

@gironimo4 it's frustrating for me too, should probably start with more than 100 % to satysfy my inner OCD :-)

@nobleboy I don't believe you caught every last rain drop, so I guess the grass had it's share of water too :-)

@netmute there's a "progressbar" underneath the beaver that fills up, you have have keep an eye on it :-)

Lovely little game you got here! It looks super cute and when the beaver started walking around it was just way too cute. The game is pretty addictive and I think with a bit of music this would have been even more fun for a long time. My highscore is 612, but I do think it's a losing battle. At some point you just see the water going down and there is no way you can keep up, haha. Anyway, good job on this entry!

@virtual-turtle-studio wow 612? I have never got that many points, the game starts to be a little boring after a a while :-D Yes, I definitely wanted to add music, but as I wanted to join the compo not the jam, I would have to create the music myself, which was a no go.

Its a really good game for such a short amount of time. I feels like its going to be easy at first and soon snaps you out of that once you realise the tension of a full bucket. The game loop is really good.

Got 56 points! Probably terrible!
Nice fit to the theme, and also very frustrating when you start missing the droplets. I definitely needed a bigget bucket!

I found this game greatly balanced when it came to graphics, UI, playability, sounds (a bit lacking without music but hey, better than bad music!). I think the limited scope of the game helped it out quite alot. Good job!

The artstyle and simple gameplay makes me feel like this could be a great minigame for a children's game! It was fun to play, but I didn't like the thunder(?) sound that kept repeating, it got annoying quickly. Nevertheless, this is a good entry!

@jakobthequizguy there's no thunder :-) maybe you mean tge sound when you are pouring the water out of the bucket :-) It was the closest I got to the sound of water using sfxr :-D
