Your goal is to save as many of your five puppies from the joys of the puppy dirtifier and the horrors of the puppy bath house. Rescue the puppies from one of the four conveyor belts and carry them to the safety (?) of your kennel. Your proficiency is measured by the puppy throughput indicator at the bottom of the game screen, the more puppies you save the higher the pup/sec value.
Very pretty little game :). I think my puppy counter was broken, stuck on 5. I also want a little bit more to do, but I'd be lying if I didn't stay to rescue a bunch of puppies.
@nardandas The puppy count is there to let a player know the total number of puppies in the loop, in the current version of the game it is set to the static value of five, because there are only ever five puppies. I thought that adding the puppy count will help make it clear that puppies do not disappear or multiply, but looks like it's having an opposite effect of causing confusion. :smile:
Cute little game, not much of an incentive to carry on playing after a few rescues as the puppies seem to almost immeditaley escape and there is no reward and no lose condition either; I think a score would of been a nice touch maybe. c:
This is the most adorable game ever :smile: I had problems getting the dog move but once it started working, it was fine. This is literally like trying to put panda babies in a row for a picture / gather all your kittens to a circle - an impossible task. And that's the best. :laughing:
@redunca I've noticed that the game won't load when the browser cache is disabled, for example when using a private browsing mode, could it be the reason why the game isn't loading for you? I've uploaded a Windows version of the game, I hope you are on Windows, because I don't think I can build for Linux or Mac, sorry :cry:
@tamail I wonder why the the dog wasn't moving at first :thinking: I've had to click on the game screen before to get the game running properly, I believe Unity iframe doesn't always get focused by the web browser, could it be the cause?
@cubiclaw I for sure clicked into the game window, several times. :) Then I reset it, clicked into it, tried the controls, nothing, I smashed all the keys and all of sudden, it started moving. I have no idea what happened.
Cute game! You should add some sound effects, it would be much better. The graphics is great, but IMO you should add some sort of a goal to the game. It would be more interesting and keep people playing, not just checking itout.
What a wholesome game! Who doesn't love saving cute puppies, right? :D Incredibly cute, and I appreciate the simple mechanic. The graphics are definitely the highlight for me. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but sometimes puppies would get stuck before sliding down the conveyor belt. If you want to bring this game to the next level (which you absolutely should if you want my opinion), some audio effects and an end goal (like others have said) would elevate this a lot. Other than that, solid effort and great game. :D
@mycosil hey, thanks for playing our game! This is a tiny game so there is no end goal and the original idea was to make an infinite loop game to fit the theme well. We imagined that from the dog's perspective - it doesn't really understand how the puppies are stolen from the kennel or why they end up on one of the conveyor belts, it just sees a misplaced puppy and carries it back home, hence no real progress is made :slight_smile:
Several people suggested adding audio and incentive to play - thanks and we totally agree! If we were to expand the game, some nice music and barking sounds would be the first items on the to-do list, with some gameplay enhancements following shortly after. This was our first jam and we didn't have any prior game development experience so we decided to keep the scope of our first game very small to make sure we do release a game in time. We'll try to deliver something a little bit more feature rich for the next jam! :slight_smile:
Cute graphics but at first I didn't understand what was the goal of the game until I read the description below the game. I think you should make it clearer in the game, and adding a goal other than trying to maintain the pup/sec ratio.
Nice Graphics and good implementation of the theme. After 20-30 seconds it is just repetitive and no real motivation to play it longer. But as I see you intend to work post jam on it and it is a very solid base to work on :)
Cute game! A bit repetitive, though. Also not sure if it's a bug but I was able to pick up puppies at the lower conveyor belt so once I camped there it wasn't too hard to get puppies since they eventually pass there. Maybe some sound would have kept my attention more and a score system to make me want to do better. Overall, not bad!
Really cute game and loved the detail of the little light at the top flashing qhen puppies go by! It's little details like that that make a game feel so much more complete! However, I would agree with previous comments that it is a little repetitive with no goal. Possibly just adding some variation into speeds would make it more interesting as well. Nice entry though! Well done!
