This was a game for LDJam 47, it's a deduction game where you are put in the shoes of a wandering vendor, you have to guess which items would fit the best in the situation you are presented with, otherwise you are trapped repeating the same day over and over again.
NOTE: since I feel we failed a little with the UX I will leave the following clarifications regarding gameplay:
-for the first level you'll need 4 items, 5 for the second and 6 for the last one. -before you can advance you need to pick those items, how do you know you've picked them? they shade a little when you click on them and get clear if you click them again, meaning you've removed them from your inventory.
I will try to leave some updates throughout the week if work permits it.
I got so hyped up becouse it has RPG feel that I don't even know what to say. BTW nice graphics and I really enjoyed shopping but I still am not exactly sure if I bought anything.
So there is seconds level? After trying i think every combination i couldnt get past: "While heating a thunder split me in half" while i had a thunder resistant potion. Other than that you guys had a gread idea :D
Love the concept. The art is gorgeous, the dialogue is humorous as well as informative, it does it's job nicely. It could've been nice to get a bit more feedback from the characters each round, as one at a time made the deduction process very slow. Things that I thought were right that I had been choosing all along ended up just being last on the list. I'm also just bad at deducing. Overall, an excellent submission that I very much enjoyed.
Hello bober, you get that notification for heat wine which is an incorrect item, but you are right, with the thunder resistance potion it doesn't make sense for that message to say that, btw Thanks for playing!
Thanks for your comment Conneli, we were unsure if giving more than one hint per round would make the game too easy, I guess it would be a process of testing it further
I liked this game. On lvl 2 I can't press GO if I chose metal gloves and metal chest, or two potions. Also, when I tried close the weapons/armor/shield/potions bar with de "X"-button, I could not do it. However, I think this is a great game! I really enjoyed!
Also got stuck on lvl 2 due to the GO glitch. The UI should be improved to be more clear that an item is selected as well. The music is lovely and it's nice that it changes for each level.
This was such a fun game! I thought the music was perfect and the graphics fit the aesthetic so well. I really like the idea of the game too and the puzzle solving was very fun. There was a little bug and the UI should be a little clearer but apart from that great game!
The graphics are great and I like the idea of being a shop keeper. Like you mentioned on your post, it’s a bit confusing to understand what to do at first. Good job anyway :)
Loved the aesthetic and story of this game! Sadly, I also got the GO glitch on level two :( As for gameplay, I would've appreciated a way to repeat the initial dialogue about each monster, because sometimes I felt like I was just doing guess work. Besides that, great work!
Seems that I wasn't the first one to get stuck on lvl2 due to go button not working. It also took me some time to understand that the speech bubble is clickable and gives hints, that made it so much easier :D . Nevertheless very interesting idea.
Thanks a lot guys! I did a small update to allow players past the second level and increased the shade to make it clear on what items you have selected!
Cool concept. I liked how you hint only one item per group. This makes the player think and not just scramble. Level 2 gets you stuck with some combinations.
Really interesting concept! It could definitely lead to some really cool narrative games! Plus, the pixel art looks really good! However, i found the fact that the client comes back until you give him the perfect match is a bit frustrating. Yet, that's still a pretty fun puzzle game!
I liked your interpretation of the theme being something that NPCs would "live" through in a typical RPG.
Never did manage to get past the first person, but I was really enjoying the narrative feedback I would get from the customer for giving them a wrong item. Very clever way to deliver feedback through gameplay.
Outside of the at, had some minor issues with the controls (closing items for the item selection menus didn't work) and the dialogue needed to be scrolled like a touch device with my mouse, but overall nothing crazy.
Great work! Would love to see more like this.
Very pretty game, I like the trial and error of choosing the items you think are correct and then getting feedback that helps you figure out the correct ones. There are quite a few gameplay problems though... - The close button for drawers doesn't work. - The close button for the speech bubble is too small. - The fact you go back to the main menu after trying a solution that doesn't work is confusing, at first I thought I had lost. Though maybe that was intentional. - The feedback for the fire sword: "You would think fire works with anything, right?" was confusing. I just chose the wand randomly and it worked but I don't know why. - The Go button for level 2 doesn't work, I think I chose the correct items but it just doesn't do anything. I tried reloading the page too and the problem persisted.
I really like the artwork and the audio is great! The dialogue was funny, particularly when you make the wrong selection, and your take on the theme was interesting. Scrolling the text was a bit slow and the close buttons for the items don't work. I also ran into the bug previously mentioned on the second character where the go button doesn't work (although I think that means I got it right :P). Nice submission!
It's a very interesting puzzle and deduction game. Quite a fun ride!
Kudos to the team! The game may seem basic, but it really shows a lot of effort on it. The art style is characteristic, the sounds and music are very fitting, and overall, it has a cohesive idea and execution! I like how there's actual feedback about what you're doing wrong, so you're rarely stuck for long rather than just randomly guessing.
There are a few details when it comes to the inconsistent UI, but otherwise, the game works as its meant to, delivering a solid deduction experience. Well done! :whale:
