THE CURSED BELL BINDS THE HOLY HAMBURGER. DESTROY THE BELL.

- WASD moves.
- Mouse aims.
- Click fires your laser.

Your mouth laser is powered by caloric intake--that is, hamburgers. The more hamburgers you've eaten before firing, the more powerful your laser. Some goblins have armor, represented by grey health bars. If an enemy has two grey health bars, you have to eat two hamburgers before your laser will pierce the armor.

On windows, press f11 to go fullscreen. This will prevent you from dying by accidentally clicking out of the window.

PATCH

- 2021-04-26 added arrow key support for AZERTY keyboard users.

4K MONITORS:

may not behave as expected on 4k monitors.

THEME INTEGRATION:

I knew going into this that there would be a lot of digging/dungeoning/diving games, so I wanted to find a more abstract way of representing "deeper and deeper". Like many of you, I represented this with sound. I needed the player audio to get deeper and deeper the more powerful he gets. The natural way to do this? If the player gets bigger and bigger, his footsteps will get deeper and deeper. In order to get the player bigger, I needed to feed him. And in order to feed the player, I needed to give him a hamburger-powered mouth laser.

The sound of the bell also gets deeper the closer you get to the end of the game.

AUDIO:

This is my first jam. I opted out of audio because I have a sound library. While I transformed and mixed every piece of audio, I wasn't sure whether audio library files are acceptable for audio scoring under the "derivative work" rules, or disallowed under the "from scratch" rules. Leave a comment if I should have opted-in, and I'll take that into account next time.

SOURCE CODE:

The source code is a mess, please don't use it for inspiration or as a model of good design. It's the second time I've used this engine, and I'll probably deprecate it and rethink many of my design choices.
