In a secret backroom at NYPD HQ sits The Shaman.

The Shaman can seek out the most deceptive criminals in the city using the powers of the mind. He taps into criminals and shares their senses.

Drive the cop car (the red circle) around the map looking for the criminals. The Shaman will give you hints as to where they are, such as what they are near, and what direction they are travelling in etc.

Initially, he can help you track down criminals by hinting at what they can smell and hear. As the chase progresses and you close in, The Shaman will also give directional information, and then finally a vision of the surrounding map area to help you capture the criminals once and for all!

TL;DR Use deeper and deeper mind powers to find/catch criminals!

Controls:

Arrow Keys - Drive the cop car.
Z - Cycle Intro screens.
X - Play

A short little game! Really well made! At first as was a little bit confused on the directions but it got clear after a shortwhile. Having a shaman sidekick is both badass and funny :smile:

Seldom I have seen such a cool UI in a pico-8 game! Great music and polished game. The only thing that bugs me is that the car isn't at full speed directly (between the first and second step is a longer timeframe)

The minimap is very clever

And... look at the animations and sprites :heart_eyes:

I tried to make some, but then quickly reverted to circles :wink:

Took me a bit to realize how exactly to play but once I understood, it was fun. How did you come up with this? xD Also, the "deeper knowledge" was a very original way to implement the theme.

Fun take on the theme, always love the Pico-8 style... fun concept, but I found the car a bit awkward to control, also didn't like the movement stopping when the shaman talks feels a bit odd. Still great concept and original take on the theme.

This was rather interesting, and very cute. I'll admit, I really had no idea what the shaman was trying to convey with his arm directions. I would follow them and then it would seem like it was just in a goose chase. So I just followed the other clues instead. I'll also say that the map is so tiny that it's a bit of a strain on my eyes to see where you're at, but I know that you're really limited with Pico-8. I was impressed by the music and art (especially the animation!). So simple but quite good. I'll admit that I didn't quite get the theme in this one.

This is a really strong entry - nothing to do with the theme but it was so innovative and interesting to play that I didn't really mind! The music and concept were charming and the mechanic did feel like detective work, so excellent job.

Great idea and cute UI. Gameplay seems to be a bit hard imho, because criminal drive around too fast. By the time you get where the que points you, he can be anywhere else.

Love this take on the theme haha!! Graphics were awesome, and I really liked how his arms pointed you in the right direction, that was clever! I do wish I could have moved around a little faster, but not a big deal. Nice job! :)

I loved the concept. Sometimes I didn't understand what was going on. I was on top of the bandit and had to wait for the psychic to see everything before I managed to arrest the fugitive. Think of something to make the game more dynamic. It will definitely be a great game.
