Loved this! The retro style was such a good choice it makes it really unique! It was simple but done well!

I think I won, reached max depth, it abruptly cut to victory screen? I had low hp so not sure if spider sneaked on me

Nice aesthetic and the song is great! jumping really helps to get away from spiders, and shooting was smooth.

Cute pit of spiders. I turned off the flashlight and let the spiders build up like a mob of zombies chasing me in circles. It was fun plowing through majority of them at the bottom. The graphics were cool reminded me a bit of the OG Doom. The mood with the music was perfect.

I liked the retro look. The music and sound effects were good. I wish there was some feedback when shooting and hitting enemies. And I wish there was some minimap or something to show where enemies were.

First - just wanted to say good job getting a Mac version uploaded. Yours is the first I could download and play without having to fix using terminal first.
Also, I appreciate you building in esc-to-quit.

I liked the spider models, and the general atmosphere was good. Visual and audio feedback could work, when I was clicking I didn't see or hear anything that suggested I was shooting. The "gunshots" sounded like a failed UI event. Also, there was no feedback that anything was being hit until it just disappeared.
Last, I'd say maybe have in-game instructions, I only now noticed the oage says that B is to turn on/off lights.
This is a good start though.

Loved the graphics of this game, it gave me Doom 64 vibes, especially with the over the top sized creatures, I also felt that the music didn't look in a way that it could be annoying. I would love to have seen some feedback for when I shot a bullet, whether that be a bullet or laser come from the player's position. Very fitting to the theme too!

Really cool game. I think this benefits a lot from the low res style, as it keeps the spiders harder to see and more mysterious. Would have liked to see some visual feedback for shooting, since it is hard to figure out the controls without reading controls. well done.

I didn't rate your game because when I opened the exe file I was stuck on the Godot logo the whole time, and I could hear music.

I felt a bit dizzy after playing the game. Perhaps that has to do with the way you have set up the camera. The art style fits the game's style. It would be nice to have more sounds in your game. Overall, a decent try.

I liked it. This game could use a little "juice." Maybe a quick little animation on the spiders when they get hit, and a screen flash or something when the player gets hurt. Good job.

I've added a debug version of the post compo game. It sound like it's a game engine bug. If you can share your pc specs I may be able to help. Sorry it doesn't work as expected.
Maybe give the post compo version a try and if it also gets stuck, run the debug version and see if the console outputs something.

If you were aiming for horror than you missed. The bright music, non-threatening enemies, and unlimited ammo give it much more of an arcade feel. The only thing I worried about was getting blindsided by enemies, which happened 7 times. The threat level didn't really escalate, so I thought I was just going to die to attrition, but then the game just kind of decided that I had killed enough and handed me a victory screen. The graphics are solid and the gunfire effect, though minimal, felt good.
