Toad in the Hole

Really cute! Platformins was a little simple, but overall really nice game!

Feels like a childrens story book as a short game, very nice and touches on some pretty heavy themes near the end, but overall it was just a nice little romp with a good story and fun dialogue (The snail was my favourite character btw :) )

Hail friend! I'm in love with this. That worm though. Wow, I really hope this gets expanded. The writing is awesome. Graphically it feels a little unfinished, but dang do I love the characters. Shoot, even the constant water pouring sound works somehow.

I just adore the atmosphere of this game! It's very sweet and everything matches perfectly, I love the music and little sounds in the background.. and the art ties it in together making it feel very peaceful. The game runs really smooth and movement feels good as well. However the dialogue does feel a little slow and the gameplay itself could be expanded on.

The game looked and sounded great and I liked the extra collectibles but the massive amount of conversation got annoying quickly and kind of ruined it for me. The text seemed to take up 10+ times longer than the actual platforming and gameplay parts.

Overall a pretty good game, im just sad because i couldn't manage to get all 15 flies ;v

@threeli thank you! my partner did all the writing and it's the first time I've ever made a game with a dedicated member of the team just for writing so we really wanted to put the dialogue front and centre.

recording the sounds was just swishing 2 different sized glasses of water in front of my microphone haha glad you enjoyed it

@anniv4x thank you! I would have loved to expand on the gameplay and make something a little more "celeste-like" but I ended up having to spend a lot of my time on art and the dialogue system. If I ever do anything else with this concept I thought it'd be really cool to be able to use the frog's tongue as a grappling hook.

@tera-bite I tried to hide a few of them in places that people might not look on a first playthrough (and also in the credits to make people check it out haha) glad you enjoyed it

@jogy34 that's reasonable to be honest. we wanted to focus on the dialogue as it was my first time ever making a game with a dedicated writer but I understand if it made the pace a little too slow for you. I did try to make most of the conversations optional just to speed things up for anyone just looking for all the flies on a repeat playthrough

Oh I love the sound effect, the atmosphere is really warm and coyz. Jumping when the edge of the screen is a little bit tricky sometimes but overall it is clear and fun!

I really enjoyed this! Lovely atmosphere and the music and SFX really added to it. Super simple graphics but they were really effective too! Agreed the pacing of some of the dialogue was a too slow, maybe having shorter snippets between gameplay? But given it's mostly a narrative game it worked! Amazing effort for the two of you

I think this is my favorite game so far!! Its so cute and thoughtful. The characters were very funny and endearing, as well as the music and overall story was super cute. I think my only critique would be the way the camera jumps between scenes pretty fast, otherwise I think it was all super lovely!

What a lovely game!

The writing was excellent, the pixel art really lovely (the croak animation was super cute) and the controls nice and responsive.

I really missed the ability to swim with all that water ;)

Very nice game! Reminded me of Celeste. Too bad it's a struggle to replay it and try to get all the flies because you cannot skip the dialogue :/
