Game submission for Ludum Dare 49

Fight monsters in an unstable world. Work through the level, gaining powerups as you go to defeat your enemies and get to the end.
We wrote a custom engine for this project. We wanted to give ourselves a challenge so we started from scratch. The game features a level editor and all game assets are loaded from a scripting language, found in the scripts folder. Art was done from scratch by @Cruzin
We were not able to fully finish the game, but wanted to submit what we had anyways.

Full source code as of the deadline is here on github now link

the technical challenge involved in building the engine/tools from scratch is why I'm giving it a decent innovation score, and the art/gameplay that was implemented up until this point was pretty good. i'm hoping this goes beyond the jam, especially because of the effort put into the framework itself.

Great artwork. There is a little problem that the hitbox of monster is lower than its image.

Yeah, I forgot to push the hit boxes up on the monsters in the final scramble to finish. Simple as putting a bigger number in the Sprite component :sob:
We put in fmod and even have sound components, but I didn't have enough time to actually put them onto anything. I'm sure a hour more of work would've had some across the board. trying to really respect the 72hr limit though.

Nice game and pretty good graphics. Although, I couldn't tell if I was hitting the larger monsters or not and there is no collision on the terrain.

I liked the game, but it is clearly not finished yet. Very interesting design of monsters and good animation. It's also nice to play, but at some point I built it up on a piece of a black screen. If you finish the environment in the game, you get a great project.

It's a shame you couldn't finish this game, but making something like this from scratch is a tall order. Big points to innovation for the effort! With some sfx added in I think the core gameplay would be super satisfying as is.

Even though it's buggy, I really appreciate that this game is made from scratch.

The game is not finished but it's pretty impresive that you did a custom engine for a gamejam. Would be cool if you could spend few more days to finish it as there is obviously a big effort here.
