Bewitched Boomerang

Game doesn't start :(

I got this message on itch when playing in the browser:

But this looked so cool! So I may even return for it. And since you support both AZERTY and QWERTY, I am already a fan :)

Ok first I adore the art. The characters are very well designed and have unique styles to help me tell them apart. The room itself has nice details and it's all very pleasing to the eye.

The boomerang was neat and I like the trade off of attacking and being vulnerable, though since the bad plants weren't a hazard to me and only impeded the boomerang a little I didn't really need to worry that much as-is.

Also, the hitboxes could be a little more forgiving. I kept getting caught on corners of the fence posts and such.

It's really fun! I love the audio and the artstyle, the "ready to harvest" pose is awesome :D

This was a super cute entry! I got 24 on my 2nd try which I feel like isn't a great score but it was fun all the same. The art was beautiful and the over-all presentation is excellent; your team should be very proud of the game.

Ah a game where I cannot die. That are my kind of games :) It is so satisfying to purposely with accident have like the most epic boomerang throw and get multiple harvests. It was really nice to play and like the others said, the graphics are just very nice.

Beautiful game, good fit for the theme. Got stuck on some obstacles where I didn't expect to, but otherwise it played well. Good one.

This was a fun one! I liked the extra controls touch of being able to recall the boomerang, it really opened up lots of ways to strategize.

I had an issue playing in the browser, because the resolution in web is a bit too large for my monitor. But I managed with it set to full screen. The animations and artwork are awesome!

This game seemed very polished. I enjoyed the boomerang mechanic and the art. The light rays coming down from the top was a very cool touch. Nice work!

Gorgeous game! Loved the art, audio and gameplay, I kept trying to go for trick shots around the object so it was really fun!

One of if not the BEST art style I have seen so far! Love the boomerang mechanic, I do feel like its missing some visual feedback though like when you get hurt or when you kill stuff. Really underrated entry, I hope people notice this some more as voting continues. Great work!

@kodingnights thank you! And yep we also set a maximum range for it, just be sure that people don't get confused over a boomerang that would never come back

The game is on point, Really fun, nice control, the bouncing mechanic add a lot of the randomness in your through making it skill based. The graphics and music are awesome too. Congrat to the team to pull this up in 48h00!

@skoufakis Unfortunately there wasn't a general consensus about increasing the difficulty, even if some of us felt it was necessary. We'll keep it in mind for sure next time! Thanks for the feedback!

The art for this game is really really well done. I felt the boomerang was hard to control and ended up just spamming it without any thought. I think the walls just get in the way and the player should be punished instead for randomly throwing the boomerang when it hits the explosive enemies. The zombie plants are pushovers as well, I didn't mind when they bump me around a little bit. Congratulations on submitting a finished game :)

I really like the art and the general vibe, it's kinda cute and reminds me of other games like Cult of the Lamb, Hollow Knight and so on. However there are some major points which I can't appreciate.
The difficulty is kinda low, I tried standing still and not moving and... Nothing much changes. You can stand there and throw your boomerang, walk to the body to get the points while getting pushed around a bit but nothing too hard.

It feels like the curve is getting higher while you play but then it stops completely. Also the boomerang gets stuck a lot in the angles if you walk around too much while spamming it.

I think it's also way too similar to Potion Brew regarding the theme - potions and everything - but worst in that regard. Sometimes it's better to try something different and search for something original rather than sticking to something common.

Really nice art, I like the variety of character designs for the plants! I found the hitboxes a bit frustrating, I kept getting myself and my boomerang caught on the edges of scenery. I think a higher difficulty might have been nice if the hitboxes were forgiving enough that I could predict where I'd be able to move a little more accurately. Overall, a really nice concept.

I wish they grew out slower so that you could plan big throws harvesting a lot of them at once. Maybe also incentivize those with a combo counter of some sort ?

This is a fun game! I really enjoyed the gameplay and the graphics were superb. I feel that the main mechanic could perhaps be expanded upon and I feel the plants do seem to spawn and despawn quite quickly. Overall an enjoyable experience :)

@jeremyfa do you have your hardware acceleration on? I had the same problem and it seems to work for me.

@memo2 Ah, that's because I'm on a mac I see :( I tried to download the dmg on itch, but for some reason the download doesn't start either... well... I may try again later
